Overview:
Headquarters, Air Combat Command (ACC), Directorate of Operations (A3), Flight Operations Division (A3T) at Langley Air Force Base, VA is responsible for the combat readiness and training of the Combat Air Forces (CAF). ACC/A3T provides the operational expertise required to meet current and future needs of the CAF by developing, coordinating, and publishing command guidance for all aspects of CAF fighter aircrew training. A key component of upholding HQ ACC's mission is Presentation, Protocol, and Operations Support (A3).
Job Summary:
Support all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of the ACC Aerial Events program and additional Flight Operations Division responsibilities. Occasional travel may be required.
Requirement: Active SECRET Clearance is required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1 year of HQ staff experience at the NAF level or higher
- Must possess one of the following:
- 5 years of experience with flight operations scheduling, aircrew resource management, command and control, or aerial events scheduling
- Rated USAF pilot/navigator with 500+ tactical flying hours (fighter or bomber MDS background, NOT remotely piloted aircraft) as defined by AFI 11-209
- 5 years of related experience in civil engineering or aircraft maintenance (e.g. paving, construction, aerospace ground equipment, Red Horse support, etc.)
Essential Duties:
This task supports all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of the ACC Aerial Events program and additional Flight Operations Division responsibilities, which include:
- Advising Flight Operations and Aerial Events Branch (A3TA) Chiefs on worldwide coordination and scheduling of ACC support for aircraft static displays, weapons capabilities demonstrations, aerial reviews, aerial demonstrations, and flyovers, IAW Aerial Event Policy and Procedures, to include the integration of Heritage Flight Program (HF) support. May be called upon to brief Commander Air Combat Command (COMACC) and/or ACC Director of Operations (A3).
- Assisting in the planning and execution phases of the annual Heritage Flight Training Course (HFTC). Planning will entail coordination with military, airshow civilian point of contacts, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) personnel for ground training courseware preparation, logistical support coordination, and operational support during the flight-training phase of the course.
- Assisting with all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of the ACC Single Ship Demonstration Team and USAFHFP airshow season schedule. Interface with the Secretary of the Air Force, HQ ACC senior leadership, Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation (AFHFF), airshow organizers, and other entities as required.
- Planning, coordinating, and attending airshow conferences such as the International Council of Airshows Convention (ICAS); drafting and providing briefings to civilian and military aerial events coordinators on procedures for obtaining ACC aerial events support and present them at those conferences to civilian and military aerial events coordinators.
- Participate in up to two-airshow quality assessment visits per year as scheduled by the COR.
- Serving as the HQ ACC Aerial Events Liaison Officer (LNO) with the USAF Thunderbird Aerial Demonstration team. This responsibility includes interface with the team as well as staffing Thunderbirds requirements within HQ ACC.
- Assisting with additional Flight Operations Division taskings, such as updating or reviewing publication guidance for ACC and higher HQ approval and performing administrative action officer duties.
- Assisting in the coordination of public affairs media and US Air Force recruiting support for ACC Single-Ship demonstration teams at Air Force open houses and civilian airshows. Support includes interacting with AF Recruiting agencies and ACC Public Affairs, sending ort/recruiting letters to airshow directors, school visits and media interviews coordination, and marketing material for Demo teams.
- Assist in the oversight development, implementation, and execution of ACC Single-Ship demo Team flight profiles. This requirement includes actions such as review of general demo flight parameters, demo pilot's grade sheets, HF formation references, and demonstration performance ground video for trend analysis IAW AFI 11-246 Vol 1, Air Force Aircraft Demonstrations.
- Assisting in preparing Aerial Events products for publication such as the A3T dashboard, ACC Aerial Events public web site, ACC Aerial Events SharePoint site, and weekly A3 staff meeting presentations. Input airshow, flyover (F/O) and ACT data into Aerial Events database, review Single-Ship demonstration team airshow critiques for trend analysis.
- Assisting in the tracking, monitoring and analysis of Heritage Flights flown at events and providing results to Flight Operations Division and Aerial Events Branch leadership as directed.
- Coordinate Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS) for United States Jet and Single-Ship demonstration teams (Blue Angles, Thunderbirds, ACC Single-Ship, and F-18) with USMC, Red Horse units, and airports for installation and removal.
- Coordinate delivery and return of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) with US Military units, civilian entities, Thunderbirds and ACC single-ship demonstration teams to support the teams' performances.
- Assisting the Government mission commander representative (Drago 2) with the overall planning and execution of ACT duties to include ACC tasked events such as NCR flyovers, State Funeral Support Plan (SFSP), and any other events required per US Air Force directives.
- Additional duties by position include:
- Drago 1. Plan and coordinate with the FAA and applicable event organizers for the execution of the designated event. The Contractor shall provide on-site event coordination with event organizer to include establishing the flyover time over target (TOT).
- Drago 3. Responsible for LN duties with Air Traffic Control (ATC) at a designated FAA facility. The Contractor shall ensure the controlling agency has the correct pertinent information relating to the flyover including number of aircraft, TOT, exiting routing, etc. ATC personnel will provide the required inflight information to the pilot to successfully execute the flyover.
- Drago 4. Travel to the aircraft-launching base and provide a pre-departure brief to the aircrew when required by the Government.
- SFSP LN. Perform LN duties at the AF District of Washington Operation center when required by the Government upon execution of the AF SFSP.
