Position Overview
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and leading the activities programs that meet the physical, spiritual, social and intellectual needs of our residents in accordance with all laws, regulations and facility guidelines.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Must have (or be in process of having) a state-approved Activities or Recreational Certification. Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy or related area is preferred.
Skills & Requirements:
Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language; must be patient, friendly, courteous and respectful to residents in any situation, including difficult ones; must be able to make independent decisions when necessary; must have the ability to follow activity program guidelines as outlined by the facility; must be able to move frequently throughout the workday; must be licensed to drive within the current state and have a clean driving record; must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist; lift 20 lbs waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs; and push/pull 40 lbs.
Experience:
Minimum of two years experience with geriatrics is required; supervision and program development experience preferred.
Essential Job Duties
Understands the needs and preferences of all residents and builds an activities program that promotes the spiritual, physical, social and intelligential needs of each resident.
Provides expectations and monitors performance of Activities Department staff and volunteers.
Provides overall supervision of the Activities Department and provides guidance to the activities staff andvolunteers.
Oversees the planning, development, organization and delivery of quality activity programs within the facility (including the Volunteer Program).
Ensures that activity programs fit the individual interests and needs of the residents; encourages arts, crafts and music participation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
