Summary:
Cash application management covers all aspects of cash receipts rendered and processed to the remitted customer account, emphasizing accuracy and efficiency. This includes management of cash receipt, cash application, and reconciliation ensuring that all payments received are accurately entered and posted timely.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily management and leadership to the Cash Applications Team, ensuring that the staff is adhering to departmental procedures
- Manage daily cash application of payments made to several corporate lockboxes as well as electronic payments
- Main contact with our corporate bank and customers to ensure Cash Application Group is working within the latest technological advances to streamline cash application to the company’s aging
- Assist with forecasting daily cash position by utilizing cash receipts and disbursements.
- Researches and resolves payment discrepancies by obtaining information from supporting Departments
- Assisting where needed with other departments such as deductions and collections
- Analysis of A/R issues such as unapplied cash and misapplication
- Streamlining processes with our ERP consultants
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness of operational procedures and controls to maximize departmental productivity and minimize errors made
- Ensures that the Cash Team maintains and updates the cash reconciliation file for all locations
- Operates in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Comply with Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations
- Comply with company policy and procedures at all times
- Adheres to workflow and ensures quality assurance standards are fulfilled
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators for the Cash Application Team
- Familiarity with General Ledger accounting
Key Competencies:
- Attention to accuracy and detail is essential to the position
- Excellent computer skills including expertise in Excel
- General knowledge of JD Edwards ERP system
- Must be able to work independently and with individuals from multiple disciplines and with varying levels of experience
- Strong Analytical Skills
Position Requirements:
- Education and training: BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Related experience: 5 plus years minimum
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Display a positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow
