GENERAL SUMMARY
Academic Tutors at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment. They provide education through learner-centered instruction that will enable students to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. They encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, lifelong learning, and ethics, as well as personal and professional development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be available to communicate with students and staff during posted hours, according to policy
- Respond to all student inquiries or initiate instructor directed outreach, in accordance with the contact policy.
- Provide support for at risk students.
- Deliver and/or assist in workshop experiences that complement the objectives of academic topics.
- Attend scheduled program meetings, in-service workshops, and school-wide faculty meetings.
- Relate personal experiences to learning through professional/technical skills development.
- Engage with all students who attend tutoring sessions, to facilitate and achieve course learning outcomes.
- Attend live sessions to present the tutoring team and the services it provides.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS
- High School degree, some college preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Communication Skills: Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively by phone, system notes, email, etc.
- Detail Oriented: Careful and with a focus on quality in accomplishing tasks.
- Time-Management: Manages own time; takes personal responsibility for timeliness of work priorities and resources to achieve results and goals.
- Coach ability: Being receptive to feedback, willing to learn, embracing continuous improvement
- Ethics: Has personal and professional ethics and fosters a diverse and respectful workplace.
- Technological: Demonstrates ability to use technology to create efficient processes and organizational methods. Able to use and manage multiple technology platforms.
- Computer proficiency in the complete Google Suite and Zoom, both mobile and desktop versions.
- Team work: Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Ability to interact with staff, instructors, and leadership. Demonstrates commitment to customer service when working with students.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sitting for long periods of time; up to 8 hours of computer work daily
- Carrying papers and materials; up to 10 pounds
- Attend mandatory meetings and training for 2 hour duration
- Able to read computer screen and maneuver between applications
