Job Summary
The Academic Advisor for Computing Graduate Programs reports to the Chair of the Department of Computing and has a secondary relationship with the College of Business & Technology Director of Recruitment and Student Success for undergraduate activities and recruitment events. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with the Computing Graduate Program Coordinator and Graduate Faculty.
The Advisor will serve as a key interpersonal communication pathway for Computing graduate programs (M.S. in Computer Science, M.S. in Information Systems, and the Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics) to prospective students in a way that encourages them to attend. They will assist with recruiting activities, such as conducting virtual information sessions and traveling to other institutions for recruiting visits. The Advisor will promote and facilitate student enrollment and persistence to completion in Computing graduate programs. They will support the work of the Computing Graduate Program Coordinator and the Graduate Committee, allowing the faculty to focus on curriculum development, program strategic planning, and other priorities.
In addition, the Academic Advisor for Computing Graduate Programs will support the work of the Computing Undergraduate Advisors, advising about and facilitating the Accelerated Bachelors to Masters (ABM) Program, and assisting with undergraduate advising when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and experience with higher education processes, policies, and procedures—specifically in the area of graduate education.
- Skill in communicating effectively with potential and current students.
- Ability to support students in course selection, registration, enrollment, and overall efficient degree pursuit.
- Ability to review and manage the graduate assistantship budget.
- Knowledge of and ability to conduct effective and efficient graduate student contracting for GA and TS positions.
- Knowledge of Banner and other software systems.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working in a higher education environment (student worker, temp, and graduate assistant positions may be considered)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in graduate assistant and tuition scholar contracting
- Experience in student advising
- Experience planning student registration and matriculation through a program of study
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,385.00 - $42,010.00 per year
