Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or authorized designee, the 340B Analyst will assist in maintaining the 340B drug discount program(s) of Mountain Health Network, Inc., with some responsibilities for data analysis, program optimization, monthly reporting, split billing software maintenance, quarterly self-audits, contract pharmacy program analysis, and all areas of regulatory compliance related to 340B. The analyst will also be able and willing to perform all other duties required of a Certified Pharmacy Technician, as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Serves as a liaison for 340B software vendors and wholesale distributors to manage and oversee compliance with contractual terms and conditions

· Supports installation and continuous utilization of vendor software

· Provides problem resolution and appropriate follow up with the vendor and wholesalers when necessary

· Assists in maintaining a collaborative relationship with contract pharmacies and provides timely resolution and/or communication of any issues

· Has frequent contact with information technology department to maintain peak performance of 340B interface and split billing software

· Works directly with 340B team to ensure accurate files sent to 340B software vendor

  • Stays informed of changes in policies or procedures, 340B related legislation, articles, white papers, and document briefs that could affect the program structure
  • Assists in maintenance and testing of tracking software and maintain system databases to reflect changes in the drug formulary or product specifications
  • Assure appropriate safeguards and system integrity for 340B software
  • Assists to assure compliance with 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs, providers, vendors, payors, and locations

· Participates in annual independent 340B audit and any HRSA audits

  • Collaborates with information technology (IT) and decision support in assisting sites, departments, service lines and individuals in the identification of information or data needs to support the 340B activities.
  • Performs quality assurance audits on all aspects of the organization’s 340B program on a continuous basis including contract pharmacy operations, financial transactions, and patient and provider qualifications
  • Act as an accountable agent for 340B compliance
  • Reviews 340B purchase history to ensure that drugs purchased on the 340B account are utilized for outpatients
  • Assists in evaluating 340B inventory replenishment for each pharmacy to confirm that accumulation, reduction and reconciliation are occurring as expected

· Maintain knowledge of current regulations, trends, and issues pertaining to the 340B program and ensures reporting meets hospital, regional, national, state, and federal guidelines

  • Assists in monitoring ordering processes, integrating most current pricing from wholesaler, and analyzing invoices
  • Works with peers to ensure medications ordered for clinics are ordered on correct accounts
  • Reviews charges for discrepancies and billing errors and corrects as needed
  • Works with peers to provide accurate accounting for the 340B program and vendor-related fees

· Assists in providing ongoing training, education and communication required for 340b program

· Must demonstrate a caring attitude by anticipating the needs of our customers, taking timely action to meet or exceed their expectations

· Must address everyone and in the appropriate manner and show willingness to work well with others

· Must follow standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and reports violations through appropriate chain of command

· Assists in facilitating priority 340B projects with measurable impacts

· Responsive in a timely manner to all requests from contract pharmacies, 340B software vendors or any other requests that information is needed to maintain, correct, or improve the 340B program

  • Assist with processing rejected claims from 340B referral queues

· Assists in maintaining EHR drug dictionary 340B rules, pricing, and modifiers

· In the event of urgent situations, perform all other duties required of a Certified Pharmacy Technician

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:

Preferred: Associate Degree (2 yr.) or higher in Business or equivalent years of applicable experience, plus Pharmacy Technician National Certification/Licensure (or ability to obtain within 6 months),

Good written and oral communication skills, proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and other pertinent IT skills, ability to analyze and report data, ability to interact with all levels of hospital personnel and outside the organization.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years or more as a hospital pharmacy technician is preferred. Knowledge of the 340B program is preferred. Apexus Advanced 340B Certificate is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Must have full understanding of the pharmacy/hospital policies and procedures. Fluent in Microsoft Office tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:. Walking or standing for long periods of time (8-10 hrs frequently

required).

1. Possess visual and auditory acuity, clear speech and manual

dexterity. Pushing and pulling unit-dose carts to the nursing units.

2. May require lifting and carrying loads, up to 40 pounds. Walking of stairway to deliver medications to the nursing units if

necessary.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or

tissues.

Potential for exposure to infectious patients. Potential for exposure to

hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs,

and cleaning solutions). These substances have the potential of causing

teratogenic, carcinogenic, reproductive issues. Potential for sticks or

cuts by clean needles or other sharp items. Potential for musculo-skeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.
