Position Summary:
The Youth and Teen fitness, Chronic disease, and Senior program manager is a passionate, caring, individual with personal connection to and investment in healthy living, who will develop, organize, and implement high-quality community program(s) for both Youth/Teen and Senior members.
Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), This individual is responsible for all aspects of the programming, including staffing, supervision of staff, and YMCA standards, and parent and member communication and safety.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Build and grow a Youth and Teen department that will serve youth 8-12 and teens 13-17 years old.
2. Develop age and developmentally appropriate Youth and Teen programs that supports the non-athlete to the highly competitive athlete.
3. Create and manage 7th grade Initiative starting in June, 2023. Plan out schedule, connect with 7th graders, create fitness schedule, events, and hold the teens accountable for their volunteer hours.
4. Manage and supervise Youth and Teen fitness instructors, strength coaches, and 7thgrade Initiative staff. Create programming goals and set clear expectations to equip them to effectively do their job.
5. Build and grow the Chronic disease program. Evaluate what is needed in the community of other health programs.
6. Communicate with Chronic Disease program directors. Screen participants. Create necessary paperwork and be on top of admin work related to Livestrong and Parkinson’s program.
7. Implement and manage EnhanceFitness. Get certified and recruit instructors. Make sure they meet all qualifications and complete all course pre-requisites to schedule and maintain certification.
8. Monitors and supports program facilitators’ confidence and competence, sharing information and resources with staff to continually increase their knowledge and skill set.
9. Monitors program facilitators’ completion and submission of required participant data.
10.Create programming goals and set clear expectations to equip staff to effectively do their job.
11.Organizes staff schedules and manage staff performance on an ongoing basis.
12.Manage and approve staff time sheets and payroll for all programs
13.Ensure coordination and completion of all necessary administrative paperwork.
14.Produce monthly reporting and metrics for all programming.
15.Attend weekly/monthly staff meetings and hold monthly department meetings.
16.Observe and participate in each program regularly.
17.Communicate with parents and members through direct contact, mid-session evaluations, emails, and phone calls. Be available for questions, concerns, and suggestions.
18.Manage department budgets for all programs.
19.Participate in annual performance review process in conjunction with the Association’s Strategic Plan and goals.
20.An ambassador for the Y and demonstrates Y values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 3+ years of youth or senior program experience including supervisory responsibilities.
2. Previous experience managing a small to medium sized budget
3. High school required; college degree preferred
4. Experience implementing evidence-based program models, including targeting specific or underserved populations, managing referral relationships with health care providers, and implementing quality assurance and data collection protocols.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to respond to parent and teen needs and concerns.
6. Must be available Mon through Fri and be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
7. YMCA approved First Aid, CPR and AED certified (may complete upon hire)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $51,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
