JOB SUMMARY
As the Youth Outreach Specialist, you lead and deliver programs filled with a variety of engaging activities to feed the mind, body and spirit of our youth. These programs are designed to meet the needs of young people in the Greater Green Bay Community. You will work with Youth Outreach, developing and sustaining an environment and programming that supports our mission, values, guiding principles, and the Ys goals of strengthening communities for all.
To meet the primary areas of focus, you will contribute to the Ys mission by: delivering program and advising curriculum needed to deliver programming, bringing your personal passions to the forefront to engage and connect with young people, and respond to the unique needs of young people. You will work closely with, give voice and input to, and support the Coordinator and Director of Youth Outreach as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Deliver/advocate/advise the Y Achievers program.
- Foster an atmosphere where youth make important connections with each other and you as an adult role model.
- Communicate with Y leaders regarding program content, trips, and classroom concerns as needed.
- Facilitate high caliber programming incorporating academic, social, and personal growth.
- Provide positive reinforcement of youth behaviors and expectations in our program participants.
- Provide feedback on programming ideas based on experience and feedback from program participants. Advise adaptations the program to facilitate growth and sustainability.
- Cultivate relationships and represent The Y with professionalism at all times with our program participants and partners.
- Collaborate with other Y staff and volunteers to create a positive and safe experience for everyone at the Y and outside the Y in programming.
- Assist the Director and Coordinator of Youth Outreach in collecting and organizing data. Incorporate any learnings into programming or training.
- Learns all Youth Outreach programming, integrating/advocating as directed.
- Provides feedback to leadership to help support the professional development of Y staff.
- Input attendance/maintain enrollment database and any data for required reporting. Support the Coordinator and Director as directed.
- Monitor and respond to program numbers to best meet participant and program needs.
- Foster a safe and engaging environment for all. Maintain safety of participants and members at all times. Clean, inspect and maintain equipment and enforce program rules.
- Act as safety responder and assist in emergencies; complete reports as needed; adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Participates in the Annual Giving Campaign.
- Supports the DEI work of The Y.
- Others duties as needed to support the Association/Center.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to build rapport and trust among young people and adults is required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and evenings is required.
- Strong organizational, administrative, public relations, and program leadership skills are required.
- Familiarity with social and recreational program delivery and experience with program development/implementation is desired.
- Educational background or knowledge in youth development, social sciences or related fields is desired.
- Experience working with Middle and High School aged youth is desired.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is desired.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required within the first 60 days (training provided).

- Physical Requirements: Some office and desk work is required, including telephone, meeting, and computer work. You will also find yourself frequently moving about the facility, setting up equipment, and building relationships with participants, parents/caregivers, and other staff. As a program leader, the ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and/or lift at least 20 pounds will be necessary. This position requires flexibility around program schedules including evenings and weekends. Occasional local travel between the centers and/or around the community will be required.
