The Welder 1st class is an important position that will be preparing, fabricating and welding various metal constructions, components and structures. We are looking for somebody who is reliable and can work with little or no supervision, can manage time so that all tasks given are completed at or before deadlines. Must have experience with TIG, MIG or Stick Welding.
What you will be responsible for…
- Install, Service and repair mechanical equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools and power tools.
- Duties include welding on mobile equipment and shears.
- Rig, move, align and balance heavy cumbersome machinery and equipment as indicated.
- Build structures and rigging as required in the moving of equipment and/or machinery.
- Determine and perform the necessary repair and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe, neat and orderly work area.
- Responsible for daily clean-up of area and equipment.
- Must be a strong team player, and have the ability to work with other employees on site.
- Written daily log is required
- Your background and skills will include…
- Knowledge of welding, grinding, finishing and polishing of materials.
- Able to read blueprints and check finish work to ensure it falls within tolerances
- Use of hand tools, torches, and welders.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures and fixtures utilizing welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Preheat work pieces prior to welding or bending using torches or heating furnace.
- Must have experience with TIG, MIG or Stick Welding.
- Fabrication is a plus.
- Work is generally performed outdoors.
- Must have 5+ years of experience.
- Subject to 90 day review and pay increase which will be based on performance and attendance.
Work is generally performed outdoors in all-weather elements such as hot, cold, rain, or snow and personal protective equipment is required. Working hours may vary and evening or weekend work may be required. You may be required to lift and carry light weights.
