Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology
The College of Idaho invites applications for a broadly educated biologist for a one-year, full-time
Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology to start Fall 2023. We seek candidates who share the
College’s commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive academic community through their
teaching, mentoring, scholarly activity, and service.
The successful candidate will offer courses in genetics and contribute to the core curriculum in
biology at the majors and non-majors level. The Biology Department offers a research-based
curriculum taught by faculty who are committed to mentoring and engaging students in the process
of science. Consistent with the liberal arts tradition, the department’s objectives are to give
students a strong foundation in the natural and biological sciences, to prepare them for science-
based careers, and to enhance their appreciation and understanding of life on earth.
The Biology Department and College of Idaho is committed to professional development of all of its
faculty members. Visiting faculty receive support through access to funding from the Faculty
Growth and Development Committee at the same level as tenured and tenure-track faculty. Visiting
faculty are also invited to participate in faculty orientation and mentorship activities throughout
the academic year. The Biology faculty are happy to provide feedback, advice, past syllabi, and
course materials to support the successful candidate’s teaching.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in biology with a cellular, molecular, or biomedical emphasis or a related field is
required. Qualified ABD candidates with teaching experience may be considered.

- A separate statement describing how your commitment to diversity and inclusion
are demonstrated in your teaching, scholarship, or service,
- Academic transcript(s) (unofficial transcripts are accepted), and
- At least three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the
candidate’s teaching ability.
