The Vice President, Human Resources for the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is a full-time employment position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer . The Vice President, HR serves as the senior officer for the University of Arizona Global Campus and is responsible for the following: strategic human resource planning, implementation of integrated human resource programs and services, and devising and implementing best practices while facilitating the successful execution of the University’s mission. Responsible for providing effective leadership and administration for day-to-day operation of the campus, the Vice President oversees the following areas: Talent Acquisition and Talent Development strategies, Compensation & Benefits; HR Technology & Operations, Employee Relations and Employee Communications.

The successful candidate will play an important role in moving the institution’s strategic initiatives forward and collaborating across the campus in alignment with the UArizona as an innovative and trusted partner. Success in this role requires an entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated breadth of knowledge across all human resources functions, progressively responsible management and leadership roles, and experience driving organizational change in a complex and dynamic organization. The VP reports to the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (UAGC) and interacts regularly with senior leadership across the campus and with UArizona.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Specifically, the Vice President, HR for UAGC will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of UAGC Human Resources teams;

  • Offer strategic leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of human resource programs and services in support of a remote campus;

  • Drive the strategy to recruitment and retain top talent;

  • Lead the development of Employee Engagement tools and Programs to promote a positive and engaging work environment and culture that fosters employee moral, productivity, teamwork, and employee growth within the university;

  • Promote diversity and inclusion within the institution, developing policies and programs that ensure equity and fairness in recruitment, selection, and promotion practices;

  • Collaborate with constituents at all levels of the institution to translate the goals and initiatives of UAGC into human resources strategies and operational plans;

  • Provide transformational leadership with a focus on building a customer service- oriented HR infrastructure that best serves the needs of a wide variety of university stakeholders;

  • In collaborate with General Counsel and CFO ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing employment;

  • Provide strategic consultation and guidance to all levels of administration, faculty, and staff concerning human resource matters with a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, ethics, initiative, and sound judgment;

  • Assist senior administrators in human resource planning and results-focused management and develop policies and programs to achieve campus UAGC goals in alignment with UArizona;

  • Manage financial operations and budgets for Human Resources for UAGC;

  • Provide guidance to campus and the community to understand Human Resource practices to enable strategic decision making;

  • Provide leadership to assure best practices in all areas of the University’s Human Resources functions;

  • Collaborate on a continuous basis with UArizona, UAGC leadership, and community stakeholders;

  • Represent the Senior Vice President & CFO when appropriate;

  • Execution of large scale strategic human resources and change management initiatives, such as faculty and staff compensation projects;

  • Responsible for advancing equity and inclusion at a systemic level; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President for & CFO of UAGC.

  • Excellent analytical thinking skills and ability to develop creative solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

UAGC’s next VP will be an accomplished human resources administrator and will possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, and/or related field; and

  • 10 years of relevant experience with demonstrated progression in responsibility; or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

  • Relevant experience should include advancing diversity, equity and inclusion at a systemic level.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor and respond to HR and company metrics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition, leading candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

  • HR leadership experience operating within a large public university and in a high-volume distance education university or campus.

  • Centralized and decentralized HR process experience.

  • Experience leading a large and complex organization through innovative structural change in a transparent and inclusive manner; and

  • Experience with enterprise human resource systems.
