Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Vice President, Global Cloud & Hosting Services for the J&J Technology organization (JJT). This position will be based at any of our JJT office locations within New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company.

The Vice President, Global Cloud & Hosting is responsible for executive leadership and strategic direction within the Technology Services (TS) organization. This includes the following global functional areas: Hybrid Cloud (OPC x & VPCx); Legacy Core Infrastructure; Reliability; Enterprise Data Centers and Facilities; L1/L2 Operations; Security Operations and Engineering; Database Services; and Enterprise Utilities and Monitoring.

This person will lead a broad functional team to establish solutions that address current and future business needs while aligning with the TS and J&J Business Technology direction, in addition to the sector core business strategies. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to institute best-practice processes and procedures into the organization and collaborate with other business and functional leaders to understand current and future needs. In turn, they will develop a plan to meet these needs (as appropriate) and make technology a core strategic advantage and enabler of cost-effective growth with agility.

This leader will be a core member of the Technology Services Leadership Team (TSLT) playing a strategic role to enable the organization to meet all strategic priorities. The successful candidate must possess deep knowledge of infrastructure technology, public cloud and data center operations and DevOps skills as well as strategic partnership (both internal and external) skills, change leadership skills, and develop outstanding working relationships with the sector CIOs, Enterprise Product Line (EPL) leaders, and other JJT leaders.

The Vice President, Global Cloud & Hosting Services will be a global leader who can enable JJT with effective and efficient solutions to surpass business requirements, while being an accomplished agent for large -scale transformational change and possess deep technical skills and experience. This leader must be able to effectively motivate, challenge and inspire individual staff commitment, while identifying strengths and areas of opportunity for growth. Other responsibilities include:

  • Direct the design, implementation, and management of all standards that have been defined for this functional service area.
  • Direct a large team of employees through a combination of direct line reporting with additional employees aligned in a matrixed regional reporting relationship. Collaboration with regional leadership in conjunction with regional implementation teams.
  • Oversee directly and indirectly ~$450MM services activities for Technology Services, including end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of portfolio. Provide key strategic leadership support during Technology Services business planning and management decision processes and actions. Deliver projects to drive forward the TS business plan. Deliver complex global programs spanning multiple functional areas in a timely and effective manner with minimal business disruption.
  • Serve as a change agent for all transformational (organizational and program) efforts.
  • Create a collaborative environment, set realistic timelines, and rapid service operations and deployment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive value and enhance efficiencies by improving the reliability and efficiency of the core technology systems and operations.
  • Act as an advisor to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for all critical initiatives and multi-year, multimillion dollar projects focused on transforming current business landscape. Create detailed program and project roadmaps that drive transformation.
  • Lead the team to identify, log, categorize, prioritize and resolve all SDDC incidents and problems; ensure resolved issues do not reoccur. Actively communicate to all internal partners to understand service roadmap and prepare DevOps team for upcoming service offerings; ensure feedback loop exists to communicate performance issues.
  • Communicate service delivery metrics to all customers; explain any performance setbacks, risks, and issues.
  • Develop and manage a team of highly skilled J&J technical and operational resources comprised of employees, Managed Service arrangements and contractors.
  • Identify commonalities and process standardization opportunities across the organization and develop, recommend, and implement strategies to capitalize on such opportunities.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the values of the company.
  • Involve critical thinking necessary to be a part of the Technology Services Leadership Team and contribute to the broader J&J Business Technology strategic, innovation and growth agenda.
  • Proactively engage with business partners to ensure their needs are met, while at the same time, understanding the overall process and delivery implications.
  • Own all strategies developed and/or deployed across the J&J Business Technology organization within this domain to include: tools; processes; roadmaps – based on user requirements and industry standard methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent in technology, engineering or related field is required; a master’s level degree or MBA is preferred
  • A minimum 15-years’ experience in a technology-related field is required
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud computing, engineering and operations for database, compute, storage, and automation domain. Good understanding of public cloud capabilities and understanding of network design skills. Strong understanding of the different use cases that leverage cloud environment as a competitive advantage
  • A minimum of 10-years of large enterprise experience managing and providing cloud and hosting services, including multiple platforms. Must be dedicated to the study of building, evolving and operating rapidly changing resilient systems to scale.
  • A minimum of 10-years of experience in a data center environment, preferably including implementation experience with a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC ) implementation and IaaS, SaaS, PaaS offerings.
  • Experience and understanding of key business processes, technical/systems landscape, overall trends, key solution vendors and issues.
  • Known to effectively blend a superior internal client focus with strong leadership for inspiring change across the company.
  • Strong relationship building skills, able to influence internal and external partners with shared and divergent interests, functions and matrix environment.
  • Experienced, proven leader who can bring rigor to the organization, deliver on achievements and bring a disciplined approach to project management; ability to link “roadmaps” to successful program management and delivery.
  • Must be able to act as a change agent and challenge the status quo.
  • Must have extensive experience with scale-out architectures, distributed systems, data center / cloud / colo strategies, performance analysis, and large-scale data processing.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps with experience managing and scaling highly available distributed systems. Prior experience leading a DevOps team in an Agile / Kanban environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing large scale AWS, Azure and GCP or other cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Experience in developing a scalable organization focused at providing better service and value to the business.
  • In-depth experience leading complex technical projects, including leading teams of individuals across several other organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the following tools is a plus: vSphere, vCenter Operations Management, vCenter Orchestrator, vC loud Automation center, NSX.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, in a challenging and high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong business and vendor/supplier relationships that ensure the successful delivery of IT services, which drive benefits to the segments and business units.
  • A strong leader and team player with the ability to communicate effectively and lead at various levels within the organization is required. Ability to lead and manage self-directed work teams is required. Proven experience in managing large projects in a global context is required.
  • Minimum of 10-years of people management experience, with strong people development and collaboration skills is required.
  • Results driven, multi-tasker with the ability to efficiently deliver on a variety of programs concurrently is required.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present across all management and organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multi-cultured teams with an awareness of differences, with exceptional leadership, networking, and influencing skills to create alignment of senior cross-functional stakeholders is required.
  • Strong financial and business acumen and decision making/problem solving skills is required.
  • Up to 20% domestic and international travel will be required.

For U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $184,000 to $339,250. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
