This investment, coupled with a commitment to reduce administrative and regulatory barriers, is a multi-pronged strategy to tackle New York City’s complex housing crisis, by addressing homelessness and housing instability, promoting economic stability and mobility, increasing homeownership opportunities, improving health and safety, and increasing opportunities for equitable growth.

Your Team:
The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) leads the agency’s effort to works closely with other HPD divisions and outside community partners to identify buildings in distress assess and develop appropriate strategies to address those properties, and work closely with responsible owners to develop a plan to improve conditions and return buildings to firm financial footing and physical health. OENS uses enforcement tools within its Division of Code Enforcement, Housing Litigation Division, Emergency Repair Program, Environmental Hazard Unit, the Division of Neighborhood Preservation, and the Division of Special Enforcement to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
The Office of Enforcement of Neighborhood Services is composed of eight divisions:
Preservation Services Exec Office (EXEC), Data Management & Technology (DMT), Division of Neighborhood Preservation (DNP), Administration & Internal Compliance (AIC), Housing Litigation Division (HLD), Division of Code Enforcement (DCE), Emergency Operations Division (EOD), Division of Special Enforcement (DSE)

Your Impact

Under the executive direction of the Assistant Commissioner for the Emergency Operations Division (EOD) and reporting directly to Director of Operations, of the Environmental Hazards Unit (EHU), as the Community Coordinator/Vendor Tracker.

Your Role:

As the Vendor Tracker in the Environmental Hazardous Unit (EHU), EOD. The selected candidate responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Your Responsibilities:

  • Answering phones and responding to inquiries from contractors and other personnel.
  • Responding to complaints regarding Lead issues.
  • Check records for accuracy of submitted information, and for conformity with established policy and procedures.
  • Preparing and sending letters to the contractors, reviews forms and documents for completeness and accuracy, and review document received.
  • Research and perform data entry, including preparing documents and coordinating submission of necessary paperwork.
  • Assist with OMO monitoring and tracking vendors’ work while in work progress, and ensure OMO is sent to routing to verify work completion.
  • Coordinate to obtain necessary XRF related supplies such as batteries, ring and dosimeters for the field staff and maintain such records per Protocol.
  • Assist with notifying vendors for any Dust wipe failures and re-cleaning in a timely manner
  • Issue XRF’s to field Techs & reconciliation of the count to update and maintain leak tests, daily logbook and various tracking reports.
  • Assist with vendors’ submission of landlord refusal affidavits for litigation and court order work orders are orders are executed timely and archived properly.
  • Assistance with resolution of contractor payment, issues initiated by the contractors, engineering Audit Division and Accounts Payable Unit.
  • Communicating with contractors to obtain information and resolve payment disputes.
  • Assisting unit supervisor with duties as required.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with HPD INFO.
  • Experience with the development of standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of NYC construction permitting requirements.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and data analysis skills.
