BASIC FUNCTION
This position will be a part of the Operations department and under general supervision. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the quality and safe handling of materials in unloading railcars and trucks while following company safety protocols and all local, state, federal and regulatory guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiates and completes railcar/tank truck hook up and the facilitation and monitoring, including but not limited to, inspection, gauges and maintenance of the area’s tanks to ensure proper product levels and equipment operations during the transfer of hazardous materials from railcar or tank truck in a safe and environmentally sound manner
- Verification and understanding of documentation to ensure accuracy of the delivered hazardous materials
- Inspection of shipping tank or railcar before, during, and after loading. Specifically, preforming equipment inspections before, during and after
- Climbing stairs to get on elevated unloading platforms on top of the railcars, operating straps, opening and closing of valves and pumps
- Operate various style pumps, troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs
- Disconnects railcar/truck from unloading equipment and prepares empty railcar/truck according to DOT regulations for transportation off site
- Safe operation and understanding of fork-lift procedures to move product or storage containers
- Maintains activity reporting and related documentation to include roundsheets, Certificate of Authenticity (COAs) and product movement orders
- Oversees maintenance activity performed on the area's equipment
- Conduct product sampling as needed
- Performs general housekeeping and assures activities are consistent with safety and security guidelines
- Facilitate open communication between inside and outside operating personnel and advise supervision of any abnormalities
- Maintain hazardous material handling, safety, and emergency response training programs
- Proper use of the technology and equipment including walkie-talkie, fire extinguisher, water monitors and contained breathing equipment
- Stay abreast of Management of Change (MOC) items in assigned work area
- Perform all work in strict accordance with all operating policies, procedures and checklists
- May perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or GED
- AND passed COBRA, Math, and Bennett Mechanical assessment
- 8 years in similar role
- Ability to clearly understand and communicate Standard Operating and Health, Environmental, Safety and Security policies and procedures along with all regulatory guidelines
- Math skills
- Written and verbal skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Process Operating Technology Certificate or Degree or
- 11 years of petrochemical or polymers industry experience OR relevant military experience OR
- 60 hours of college credit
PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the incumbent to:
- Follow safety requirements for the role,
- Work outside regularly in the environment which at times includes extreme cold or heat,
- Lift and carry 60 pounds to shoulder and carry up to 300 feet,
- Push and pull 55 pounds of force for 20 feet,
- Grip using 100 pounds of pressure,
- Climb 50 feet of ladder and stairs,
- Walk ½ a mile per job,
- Work in confined spaces and on elevated surfaces,
- Stand for extended periods of time,
- Kneel, crawl, squat, twist and turn, and
- Wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, and hand protection) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage, and
- Wear respiratory PPE for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Walk safely in and around industrial areas
- Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Climbing stairs and vertical ladders
- Continual exposure to outdoor environment during all-weather conditions
