We are looking for energetic, positive individuals to join our National Tutoring Corps, in a Lindamood- Bell® Learning Center on Campus—where we provide small-group instruction at local area schools. We are part of a national effort to serve millions of students impacted by the pandemic, especially underserved and disadvantaged students already at risk of being behind in reading and math. Tutor Position Details:
- Prior teaching experience is not required.
- These positions are seasonal with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM.
- Instruction is performed at a local area school campuses including but not limited to:
Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Beltsville, MD
Gwynn Park Middle School in Brandywine, MD
Ernest Everett Just Middle School in Mitchellville, MD
- This is not a remote position; tutors are responsible for getting to and from the school campus daily.
- We provide paid training in the programs used by Lindamood-Bell.
- Required hours during the paid training are generally 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, for two weeks. Following the training, as a seasonal employee, your hours may vary week-to-week according to the instructional needs of the Learning Center on Campus.
- This position requires Monday–Friday availability.
- All necessary technical equipment and program materials will be provided.
- The opportunity to travel may be available.
- Internship credits may be available.
Lindamood-Bell complies with state and local jurisdictions regarding vaccination requirements. Tutor Expectations:
- Have a passion for helping others reach their potential.
- Implement positive-reinforcement strategies that maximize learning, in a cheerful and authentic manner.
- Possess excellent reading, spelling, and comprehension skills.
- Possess basic computer skills and the ability to type notes about student performance while leading engaging sessions.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate’s degree, Early Childhood Education certificate, or actively pursuing a degree is acceptable.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Provide small group instruction, in-person and/or online, implementing specific lesson plans under the direction of the Lindamood-Bell for Schools leadership team.
- Interact positively and professionally with clients and staff to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Comply with Lindamood-Bell’s and hosting school’s policies and requirements for ensuring student safety.
- Manage client records electronically using a computer.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is $23 per hour.
