Baptist Eye Surgeons is a fast paced ophthalmology practice, 10 physicians and 3 locations (South Knoxville, West Knoxville and Morristown). We offer a rich benefit package and lunch supplies are always provided. Friendly atmosphere and great work environment. Hours are Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with no weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour (depending on years of experience)

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The primary function of this role is to handle all incoming patient calls and voicemails regarding medical issues, prescription refills, and questions. Ask clarifying questions to the patients to help assess urgency of calls/problems. Communicate with physicians and team to determine treatment plans. Schedule patients when applicable. Document all incoming and outcoming calls in the electronic medical record and close the loop with the patient about any treatment changes. Additionally, this role will also obtain pre-authorizations for surgical procedures, as well as assist in collections for surgical procedures, and chart prep for upcoming appointments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Take incoming calls from patients with medical questions or problems. Work with physicians and team members to answer patient questions and meet their needs. Schedule work-in appointments for patients who need to be seen urgently. Document all calls, treatment plans and medication changes in the electronic medical record. Pre-chart upcoming appointments. Pre-authorizations and pre-collections for surgical procedures. Scanning medical records/reviewing faxes. Other tasks as assigned. This position is a new position for Baptist Eye Surgeons, we are looking for the right person to help us develop this position for success!

Work Location: In person, this is not a remote position.

REQUIREMENTS: Strong communication skills. Excellent phone etiquette.
Compassion. Detail-oriented. Experience in the medical field, ophthalmology is a plus. LPN or CMA preferred but not required.
