Ole Mexican Foods is looking for a Transportation Specialist to join our team.

SUMMARY
The Transportation Specialist coordinates activities related to the company’s regulatory, DOT compliance, and safety programs specific to the food manufacturing industry. Develops and implements strategies to achieve and exceed company goals and expectations to reduce vehicle compliance violations. Duties may be tailored to one or more specialties at the direction of the manager; examples of common specialties include, but are not limited to food manufacture and distribution compliance, health and safety compliance and transportation safety and compliance. This position requires professional communication, computer, and presentation skills. Employee represents the company in a positive image with our employees, customers, and community in a safe and ethical manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position will assist in the activities of the dispatch and driver management.
• Follow up on outstanding tasks, emails and requests
• Ensure training files are maintained to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and company policies
• Validates regulatory qualifications of employees
• Act as a resource for former employees who fall under the purview of regulatory compliance and safety
• Assists with vendor compliance approval processes
• Reviews cost statements to locate excessive expenses, and develops plans, policies, and budgets.
• Assist and participate in the hiring and recruiting process for the transportation department.
• Provide resolution and for routing exceptions and delays.
• Measures performance of suppliers and carriers and tracks costs and profit performance.
• Ensures the department compliance with customer contracts and Federal, State and Local Regulations.
• Ensures the efficient usage of department technology including routing, transportation management, scanning, and GPS software.
• Provide timely and accurate business reports and including customer and corporate KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
• This position will be required to travel to various assigned locations 25%, but maybe more as determined by the Company
• Follows and assists in implementations of all company policies and procedures as specified by the various supporting departments including Accounting, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, Administration, IT, Safety, and Quality, etc.

Education/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; with a minimum of 10 years in transportation/logistic positions with a mid to large fleet, including hands on experience in dispatch environment.
• Prior experience in automotive or time sensitive freight industry preferred.
• Strong financial, technology, communication, and DOT knowledge skills.
• Must have strong knowledge and use of transportation software.
• Strong computer skills with proficient Microsoft Office skills.
