In this role, you will lead the Thermal subsystem team in development, verification, and operations activities through the full program lifecycle. Manage definition, interpretation, and implementation of design requirements, task delegation, coordination and execution of hardware designs, and development and integration of hardware in accordance with engineering process specifications. Ensure designs adhere to LM Common Integrated processes as documented in Command Media, and drive process improvement into the design culture.

Provide solution based technical mentoring to improve program performance and to drive error free design using proven tools, processes and predictive measures, work collaboratively with the program and functional senior leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments and rotations to sustain engineering capabilities and critical skills and, drive performance management, career development, and personnel related activities. Candidate will evaluate engineering personnel for performance evaluations, promotions, and merits.

Candidate will ensure open communications, customer satisfaction, and timely technical and programmatic status for all Propulsion engineering activities. Some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Detailed knowledge of spacecraft Thermal systems, and conversant in other spacecraft and ground mechanical systems, and possess a strong background in organizational processes.
  • Experience with CPE competencies: design, qualification, and integration of mechanical hardware
  • Experience with technical and/or program leadership experience and supplier technical management
  • Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership behaviors
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within roles such as acting manager, technical lead, or project manager
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in engineering project management responsibilities including managing suppliers, developing BOEs and staffing plans, performing technical evaluations, supporting proposals and negotiations, and managing project cost and schedule.
  • Experience in failure investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action disposition
  • Experience in multi-year planning, including labor and non-labor elements and staffing strategies
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Controls Account Management (CAM) experience
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) processes
  • Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of personalities and capabilities
  • Development program experience

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $118,100 - $226,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
