Responsibilities:
Position Summary

Our Information Technology (IT) department is seeking a passionate individual to join our high-performing team as an IT Project Manager. Working on the Youth Villages’ IT team means collaborating with purpose-driven people on high-impact projects and products, making a direct impact on the youth and families who need us the most. This position will report to the Director of Product and Innovation (Director).

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years project management experience and is a strategic thinker and problem solver who can drive successful outcomes. This person will work closely with the Youth Villages’ Data Science, Business Intelligence, IT, Finance, HR, and other departmental teams to support the organization’s strategic priorities. Projects may include launching a new data warehouse, expanding utilization of help desk/ticketing software, and evaluating new software as a project manager within a cross-functional team. This position will utilize best practice and robust project management in all activities, providing value to internal and external users, while meeting organizational requirements. They will also work on special projects as requested by the Director, CIO, and other members of the leadership team, as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The person in this role will work closely with the Director, senior leadership, and departments to:
  • Act as point of contact, answering questions and providing guidance as needed to ensure delivery of high-quality work
  • Understand and document current and future state processes
  • Partner with external vendor to develop and manage project plan, including the budget
  • Develop and manage the project(s), communication, resource plans, and processes
  • Analyze all management and technical processes to ensure delivery as expected
  • Meet regularly with project stakeholders and vendors, defining project goals and objectives
  • Schedule meetings and manage project timeline
  • Generate regular reports to update stakeholders and manage project expectations
  • Together with vendor, Director, and CIO, define roles and responsibilities of the team and determine clear deliverables
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document requirements, needs, and tasks in Microsoft Planner and Teams

**Position is remote and can be based in any location however 10-15% travel will be required for meetings and projects as needed.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies, and methods
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally, upwards, and external vendors
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work with diverse project team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Strong self-awareness and adaptability when working with multi-department teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of data and data management practices, specifically ability to work with data users to ensure data collection and management adhere to best practices

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, IT Management, or related field strongly preferred or equivalent experience
  • Project management expeirience in IT or a related field (data, analytics, research, or business intelligence) is required
  • 2+ years of experience working in Information Technology preferred
  • 3+ years of project management or similarly related experience in lieu of degree is acceptable
  • Professional Project Management Certification preferred
  • Experience with non-profits strongly preferred
