Purpose Statement:
The Secondary teacher uses creative methods to foster a desire for the students to learn and grow spiritually, academically, emotionally and socially. The goal of instruction is to ensure that students accomplish the objectives established. The teacher will instruct students as required by the curriculum objectives established by Calvary Christian Academy. The specific focus is to provide quality instruction using a biblical perspective.
Scope:
This position interacts with all faculty members, students, and their parents to assess instruct and achieve optimum growth and development of the student through physical activity.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Model Christ in word and deed.
- Write lesson plans for all classes on a weekly basis according to Calvary Christian Academy guidelines.
- Establish and maintain communication with parents as specified by the administrative policy.
- Read Calvary Christian Academy email/staff communications to remain informed and respond
- if requested to so. This should be done upon arrival, midday, and before departure.
- Be available for student questions, concerns, ministry and counsel during lunch hours, before school, after school, or in between classes.
- Attend staff devotions one day per week (fulfill devotion duty during morning arrivals.)
- Attend Calvary Christian Academy staff meetings.
- Attend Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale monthly staff meetings.
- Attend/participate in: Back to School Night, Parent Teacher Fellowship’s, Year End Festival and other School events the promote relationship building with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participates in the accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan.
- Participates in professional development to stay current in their field.
- Adhere to specified professional dress.
- Attend and participate in designated Chapels.
- Participate in scheduled team meetings.
- Establish and maintain accurate records on each student.
- Prepare interims.
- Prepare report cards and ongoing grade record keeping on Blackbaud.
- Teach through Biblical Integration method.
- Give specific praise and encouragement.
- Lead small group
- Discipline with love and establish incentives for improving behavior.
- Grade students based on effort, discipline and proper uniform.
- Encourage students to develop a desirable self-concept through relevant educational experiences.
- Know the student dress code in order to ensure students comply with the standards
- Compile and maintain an up to date subfolder.
- All teachers are responsible for erasing their whiteboards at the end of each teaching day (good stewardship element)
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Able to sit and/stand for a long period of time
- Able to run, jump, squat, walk for an extended period of time, and push and pull objects over 40lbs
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports directly to the Assistant Principal and Principal.
