JOB TITLE: TD Designer

DEPARTMENT: Design Services – Shawnee Service Center
LOCATION: Shawnee, KS
PAY RANGE:
TD Designer I: $51,800 - $64,700
TD Designer II: $53,800 - $67,300
TD Designer III: $61,900 - $77,400
TD Designer IV: $69,600 - $87,000

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Additional hours as specified)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under minimal direction, the TD Designer meets with customers to assess electrical needs, define requirements, and outline expectations of the design and construction processes before estimating materials, labor and costs for installation, modification and maintenance of electric infrastructure. Once optimal designs are developed, TD Designers coordinate permitting, material orders, real-estate acquisition, utility coordination, and engineering approvals from company, city, county, state, and consultant engineers.


Education and Experience Requirements:

A high school education is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or related field, and/or two years of related experience is highly preferred. Related experience includes background in construction and maintenance of distribution assets and facilities, project management, or electrical construction.

Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job (includes, but not limited to hearing, seeing, walking, talking, reading, typing, writing, color distinction, depth perception, working outside in adverse conditions, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, etc.).

Prequalification Training Program Overview:
Applicants awarded a position will have up to two (2) weeks upon entry into the position to complete the Pre-Qualifications Training Program under a probationary status. Successful completion of the Pre-Qualifications Program is required for entry into the Design Technician Training Program.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions:
80% of work is performed in an office with 20% in the field. Occasional travel to other locations within the Company and overnight travel is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have excellent work record, including performance evaluations, attendance and sick leave.
