Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems has an opportunity in Owego, NY for an early career Systems Safety Engineer supporting the Specialty Engineering team of Enterprise Technology. As an early career hire on our Systems Engineering team, you can help us take on the world’s most important and complex challenges by providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. In this important role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals and interact with outside customers. The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, team-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking.
The engineer will join a group of experienced safety and specialty engineers working on various aircraft and electronic warfare platforms. You will lead analysis and design support efforts for all aspects of the system safety programs on these products, ensuring that safety is crafted into the hardware and software of these products.
The engineer will also work on tasking which will include requirements analysis, interface analysis, and operations analysis, as well as system safety test and verification. The engineer will have the opportunity to grow skills and understanding of System Safety Engineering, improve and evolve the System Safety process and methodology, and be an ambassador of the discipline within the company. The engineer will work directly with customers and project leadership to report out on safety program status, and will be responsible for preparing reports, and reviewing subcontractor safety documentation and analyses.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering STEM field; or equivalent years of working experience in the field of systems engineering
- Security Clearance required Prior to Start: Interim Secret
- 2+ years’ experience in system safety engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or related field
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E or other relevant industry standards
- Experience with civil or military aircraft avionics System Safety & Reliability Engineering considerations.
- Experience with safety critical and/or mission critical equipment
- Experience with applicable software safety standards such as DO-178
- Knowledge of product test, environmental or reliability testing and/or micro-electronics manufacturing engineering.
- Knowledge in Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), root cause failure analysis, and data analytics.
- Knowledge in Reliability and Maintainability principles and practices
- Experience in customer interfacing
- Experience with a diversity of complex electrical and avionics systems and equipment
- Application overall systems engineering process
- Experience with software intensive systems
- Experience with probability, statistics, mathematical
- Familiar with SW tools/languages, such as: LabVIEW, Perl, C+, XML, C++, and Java
