Job description
As a Systems Engineer, the individual is responsible for supporting the migration of IT services, applications, equipment, infrastructure, functions, data, and capabilities for the US Army Human Resources Command (HRC) Data Centers to a physical or virtual hosting environment, in support of HRC modernization. In this role, the Sytems Engineer will ensure migration projects will be completed in a phased approach from initial assessment to decommission of legacy equipment.
Responsibilities:
Researches and reports on hosting capabilities, common services, and technical capacity of proposed off-premises hosting locations
Collaborates across teams to assess migration requirements
Conducts or participates in migration workshops
Plans, executes, and sustain migration projects
Implements, configures, maintains, and supports the computer systems according to the Performance Work Statement (PWS) Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Engineering and Implementation Plan (EIP), System Design Plan (SDP), and Build Guides
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Active Directory, and PKI
Performs regular systems and security monitoring, handles backup procedures and helps set up, maintain, and delete user accounts as required
Performs advanced systems administration on Windows Servers, Windows Active Directory, PKI, and MECM as required by the Project, Project Leadership, and Government
Follows and maintains relevant procedures and standards
Provides technical support related to systems within their organization and to outside customers, Government staff, junior project technical staff, or other contractors as needed
Manages patches and upgrades to ensure that systems are maximally efficient, effective, and secure
Performs other tasks as required by BME and the Government contracting team
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience
Must have a valid CompTIA Security+ CE
Must have a valid Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Windows Server 2019, Core Infrastructure, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): Windows Server Administrator Fundamentals
Requires 10 years of direct, relevant experience with the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Active Directory
Must have a minimum of 3 years of direct, relevant hands-on experience with the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
Requires10 plus years of direct hands-on experience with IT systems infrastructure, implementation, and design
Strong knowledge of platform migration best practices and standards
Ability to work within a team-oriented, collaborative environment, develop strong working relationships across organizations
Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to support projects and issues through completion, strong follow-through and critical problem-solving skills
Must have and maintain Secret Security Clearance or higher
