Reports to: VA Switchboard Supervisor

Job Duties:

• Answer all in-coming calls in a timely, courteous and efficient manner
• Answering all emergency calls and alarms
• Transfer phone calls to appropriate parties when requested.
• Provide pertinent information to callers.
• Operate audio, radio, and digital paging systems
• Perform information operator work requiring knowledge of the organizational units and major functions of a large multi-division organization
• Complete required training in a timely manner

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Work Aid: M2550 Nortel electronic attendant console, computer, printer, general office supplies, adaptive technology such as ZoomText, Jaws, and other Blind/Low Vision assistive technology aids

Experience Required:

• Must be able to assume the responsibility for placing a variety of special long-distance calls (e.g. conference calls, collect calls, appointment calls) over varied circuits or routings
• Must be able to meet and deal with people from a variety of backgrounds with varying levels of understanding
• Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to stressful, changing work conditions

• Background in healthcare preferred

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Good multitasking, organizational and stress management skills
• Ability to look up pertinent patient/client information using software and programs provided by the organization

Education Required: High School Diploma/GED or higher

License and Certification Requirements: None
