Domtar Paper in Nekoosa, WI has an opening for Maintenance Supervisor – Reliability. Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible supervises a team of maintenance personnel tasked with the execution of reliability programs. This role is responsible to develop and continually improve the function of reliability program within their crew relating to all aspects of, health and safety, environment, quality, uptime value, continual improvement, procedures and policies and best operating practices. This role will be part of the reliability engineering group with various levels of responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promotes a safe working environment and safe work practices.
- Motivate and develop their crew into a competent team of reliability craftsman as well as develop sound work plans.
- Work closely with maintenance and operating counterparts to conduct and/or identify work that balances priorities between PM’s, safety, environment, cost reduction and emergency work.
- Responsible for all health and safety aspects of their crew, including training, meetings, compliance, audits, observations and records.
- Ensure that employees under their supervision have the required abilities, means and resources to conduct their tasks safely and in conformity with policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the performance and behavior of their crew which includes setting targets and expectations, coaching, mentoring, training, communicating and providing direction as required.
- Ensure the involvement of all team members in the development and continual improvement of work practices, procedures, equipment, and knowledge to optimize the team’s efficiency.
- Ensure a prominent level of communication with other teams and other supervisors to make the best decisions for the mill and for Domtar as a whole.
- Report any issues to appropriate personnel - must be an effective communicator.
- Works in a partnership with other supervisors, team leads, planners and operations to improve overall equipment performance.
- Schedules weekly and daily activities for the respective crew
- Supports the Preventive Maintenance/Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) program.
- Site lead and primary owner of the Vibration and Crane services.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma with a two-year associate degree in a mechanical field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience in a preferably in a reliability program.
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and SAP
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Recommended Qualifications:
- Knowledge of condition monitoring programs and techniques is essential with certification in at least one area of condition monitoring (vibration, lubrication, thermography, ultrasonic, PdMa) required.
- Knowledge of Root cause failure elimination practices and tools.
- Additional reliability certification
- Kraft pulp and paper mill experience
- Maintenance and Reliability training coursework
