Position Title: Coordinator, Student Success & Engagement

Position Overview:

  • Develop, implement, and manage activities, programs, and services related to student development, student leadership programs and other campus activities.
  • Develop and execute short and long-term plans, goals, and objectives for programs to ensure alignment with university goals.
  • Oversee activities and budgets of student fee-funded student organizations.
  • Oversee safety and compliance of students and program volunteers
  • 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday with evening and weekend hours required.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

  • Program Development and Implementation - 45%
    • Working with student organizations develop, implement, manage, and evaluate social justice programming that advances campus engagement around issues of equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts for systemically marginalized populations.
    • Working with student organizations develop, implement, manage, and evaluate programming for systemically marginalized students, which includes, but is not limited to identity, belonging, and leadership development, advocacy and community engagement.
    • Structures leadership and intersecting identity development for multicultural affinity organizations.
    • Collaborates with community organizations and agencies to develop partnerships that engage students’ identities and self-advocacy work.
  • Organization Advisement and Supervision – 30%
    • Supervise and facilitate a comprehensive mentoring program for new and continuing students featuring one-on-one coaching/mentoring that provides student support and connects students to various campus resources to improve persistence and retention of students.
    • Advise student executive officers of student affinity organizations providing guidance in leadership, teambuilding, and communication.
    • Advise student organizations in the planning and implementation of programming focusing on cultural and identity development.
  • Campus & Community Outreach and Engagement 15%:
    • Create and maintain partnerships and collaborations across campus with campus offices and other student organizations.
    • Participates on various campus committees that address diversity.
  • Office Support and Other Duties 10%
    • Other duties as necessary to support office function.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in job-related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

  • Minimum of two years of related experience in higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating diversity programs.
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
  • Experience supervising.
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, task forces, or committees.
  • Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education, particularly those related to diversity and inclusion.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Superior planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.
  • Experience with assessment of diversity programs.
  • Superior leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students in different areas and at different levels of the University.
  • Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
