Job Summary


MUST BE A CURRENTLY ENROLLED CLAYTON STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT

The College of Business at Clayton State University is looking to expand its team of Resident Advisors for the annual LIFEvest Financial Literacy Summer Program. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about assisting and mentoring students of various socioeconomic backgrounds on financial literacy topics and college planning. Passionate individuals who are interested in working with high school students and individuals who have experience related to mentoring, tutoring, or coaching.

Tentative Pay Rate: $15 hourly - Spring training (required) $1250 per week - LIFEvest program week rate

Requirements:

  • Complete all Minors on Campus training
  • Must be available for the four mandatory training sessions for resident advisors from April through May. Dates are:
    • CPR training, TBD
    • Saturday, April 15, 2023
    • Saturday, April 22, 2023
    • Saturday, May 6, 2023
  • Attend assigned Meet & Greet Sessions and be available and knowledgeable to answer participant and caretaker questions. Meet and Greet dates are as follows:
    • Boys Week 1: Tuesday, May 9, 2022 *tentative
    • Girls Week 2: Tuesday, May 16, 2022 *tentative
  • RAs for Boys weeks are required to work during weeks 1. RAs for Girls weeks are required to work during weeks 2
    • Week 1: Sunday, June 6, 2023 - Friday, June 10, 2023 (Boys Week)
    • Week 2: Sunday, June 11, 2023 - Friday, June 16, 2023 (Girls Week)

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive, professional, and enthusiastic attitude and be a team player
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the College of Business organizational structure and mission/vision
  • Understand, establish, and enforce all University and Residence hall rules, regulations, and policies to ensure program goals are attained
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and troubleshoot conflicts with other resident advisors, program manager, and volunteers
  • Engage with all students and foster a supportive learning environment and encourage student participation in activities and class time
  • Serve as a role model for all students including those under other resident advisor teams
  • Make sure students are accounted for, are on time, and are on task at all times
  • Address any student behavioral issues with the program manager promptly and appropriately. Mitigate conflicts using proper protocols
  • Understand the daily agenda and prepare students accordingly (e.g. wearing proper attire for a field trip, guest speaker, or outdoor activity)
  • Understand and be aware of any student allergies or medical conditions and who to contact in case of emergency
  • Hold nightly RA debrief meetings after students’ curfew and provide daily feedback to the program manager
  • Be prepared to perform other tasks as they arise

  • Maturity: You will be interacting with finance industry leaders from all over Metro Atlanta
  • Reliability: Be on time

  • Effective communication: Utilize active listening skills to correctly respond to students’ questions and provide help
  • Ability to work in a team: Be able to collaborate with others
  • Excellent decision-making ability: Ability to think critically to find solutions.

Work Environment

  • Highly active work environment
  • Interaction with various individuals including Faculty Director, Associate Director, Program Manager, Interns, Industry Leaders, Clayton State Staff (including chancellors, provosts, professors, etc.)
  • Off-site visits to local companies
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
