POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for overseeing the company payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily workflow of the Payroll department
- Process payroll bi-weekly for 800+ employees in US
- Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers
- Pay employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments
- Manage the annual W-2 process of generation and distribution to employees
- Partner close with HR department on resolving payroll discrepancies and adjustments
- Communicate with employees to answer questions and resolve concerns
- Maintain current knowledge on Federal, State and Local payroll and taxation legislation changes and ensure company is compliant
- Ensure compliance with new hire reporting and payroll data reporting
- Maintain payroll guidelines by drafting and updating policies and procedures
- Ensure all company payroll information is kept confidential at all times
- Maintain accuracy in timecards, time entries, and timekeeping systems
- Onboard new employees on timekeeping systems and procedures
- Adhere to internal company policies
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 years of experience within a multi-state payroll department
Other Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficient with payroll systems, preferably ADP
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Proficient at MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Legally permitted to work in the United States
- Able to work in a general office environment
