MVED is hiring for special education paraprofessional positions for the 2022-2023 school year. The paraprofessional positions involve working with students in a special education classroom for students with significant behaviors and needs that are related to disabilities, such as emotional/behavioral disorder and autism spectrum disorder.

Title: Special Education Paraprofessional

Reports to: MVED Principal

Job Location: Saint Peter, MN

General Summary

• Special education paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a licensed teacher. The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, and affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers to provide support to students in the areas of academic assistance, physical assistance, behavior monitoring, and data collection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Experience working with children and an interest in working with special needs students.
• Post-secondary education, previous experience working with students with emotional/behavioral concerns or autism, and/or previous experience in a school setting preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting students in achieving academic success
• Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class
• Behavior support including physical management and monitoring (training provided upon hire)
• Social integration
• Consultation and collaboration with special education teachers and related service staff.

Salary

• The salary for this position will be in accordance with the MVED Paraprofessional Master Agreement.
• Starting at $14.72 and up to $18.65 depending on experience and education.

Duty Days

• Student contact days starting as soon as possible.
• 6.75 hour/day - 7:45-3:00
