VoltServer Engineering is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join our Software Team. The team member will play a critical role designing and developing software for web-connected Digital Electricity hardware products. We maintain a modern software stack including NodeJS, ReactJS, TypeScript, and Ruby/Rails. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in embedded Linux/ IoT, web-based software and desire to be a key contributor to a small, agile team.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience developing web-based software in one or more of the following: NodeJS/ TypeScript, Ruby/ Rails, Python/ DJango, Elixir, etc.
• ReactJS experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement software systems that are testable, extensible and well-documented
• Ability to capture high-level business requirements and evaluate tradeoffs in product design
• Proficiency in SQL, schema design, versioning and migration
• Proficiency with Git
• Experience with Linux userspace (bash/ ZSH and common command line tooling)
• Experience with one or more cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Vercel, etc)
• Interest in IoT/ Building Automation/ Industrial Control

Preferred

• Technical understanding of common standards such as HTTP, TCP, TLS, IMAP
• Working knowledge of Docker
• Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot database performance and scalability concerns
• IP networking, routing, VLAN, firewalls in Linux
