The Southern Oregon Education Service District is seeking a highly professional and experienced occupational therapist to deliver school-based services to students in districts in the Southern Oregon region. The therapist will provide consultation and training to school staff, evaluation of student eligibility, progress and needs, recommendation and adjustment of equipment, input toward IEP development, and occupational therapy treatments typically provided to students with motor impairments.

The occupational therapist will become part of the SOESD’s OI (Orthopedic Impairment) team – a team of OTs and PTs that serve schools and students across Southern Oregon. The team works collaboratively to develop curriculum and programs that enhance the learning experience and opportunity of students who experience disabilities. Often, a PT and OT will partner to provide comprehensive orthopedic services to individuals or groups of students. Members of the SOESD OI team are provided regular training and support which results in knowledgeable, competent therapists who are valued and appreciated by school staff, parents and the community.

POSITION GOAL: Plan, implement and monitor therapy services for appropriately identified students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assess and diagnose student's educationally related therapy needs.
2. Instruct/demonstrate therapy/treatment programs to individual students and/or educational staff.
3. Write, alter, review, update, and pre/post test treatment/instructional therapy programs.
4. Coordinate therapy services for students with resource people, agencies, and/or others.
5. Coordinate and/or provide direct parent training.
6. Develop schedule of services to students and disseminate.
7. Train school personnel to implement therapy programs.
8. Plan and present in-service to school personnel and parents, and be a resource for information.
9. Select and complete growth objectives.
10. Assist in parent education in providing knowledge of unique educational needs.
11. Participate in assigned staff school meetings and in-services.
12. Establish and maintain positive, flexible, and cooperative relationships with ESD and local district staff.
13. Represent program/ESD with colleagues and community.
14. Interact and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
15. Schedule and conduct needed student staffing.
16. Implement and maintain student records and forms.
17. Prepare and maintain materials and equipment.
18. Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
19. Perform job related tasks as designated by supervisor/coordinator.

MINIMUM PREREQUISITES
1. License to practice therapy in the State of Oregon.
2. Experience working with developmentally delayed children.
3. School based service preferred.

The equivalent combination of experience, training, certification, education or degree that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be used as an alternative to prerequisites

SALARY RANDGE: Per negotiated 2021-2022 licensed salary schedule. $46,144.00 - $84,460.00
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Administrator

Pay: $54,720.00 - $94,759.00 per year
