The Information Technology department for the
DBHDS
Nottoway Campus, Burkeville, VA, is looking for an Applications Developer to provide shared support for
Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (
PGH
) and the VA Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (
VCBR
).
The incumbent will serve as an instrumental developer providing analytics, design, strategy and support for a variety of IT campus initiatives. Additionally, the Applications Developer will manage the social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, websites) for both PGH and VCBR. We are looking for a creative designer who has a passion for graphics to create compelling digital and print material to drive branding and marketing strategies for the facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience managing social media platforms and experience effectively communicating with various levels of an organization.

PGH is Virginia’s only state Mental Health Facility solely dedicated to evaluation and treatment of persons aged 65 and older. The goal of care is to facilitate discharge to a less restrictive setting by assisting patients to improve and/or maintain their physical, mental and social functioning.
The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence by securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. VCBR provides recovery, opportunity and support to residents so they may safely return to their communities and is the only facility in the Commonwealth that provides such service.

The Nottoway campus is located in the picturesque rural setting of the Southside region of Virginia. PGH is just 60 miles from the state capital (Richmond), 65 miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and 144 miles from the waves of Virginia Beach.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with Social Media platforms management
- Knowledge of Architecture of a framework for web-enabled applications development.
- Advanced/Extensive knowledge of development techniques such as data modeling and flowcharts
- Knowledge of SharePoint designer
- Knowledge f multimedia systems and design software
- Knowledge of photoshop
- Knowledge of Ad creation in multimedia formats
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and other web platforms
- Knowledge of webpage design § Good personal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Knowledge, experience, and adequate skill in the creating all items required for the phases within the System Development Life Cycle: initial analysis, logical design, physical design and unit testing, system testing and documentation, and implementation and evaluation
- Experience and skill in developing and supporting automated systems, forms, and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree related to Information Technology, Computer Science or another related field, is preferred
- Related educational training and/or experience may substitute for college degree. A minimum of two to four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience.
