JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Small Engine

Purpose of Job
This position will diagnose and repair Small Engines and Light Equipment on all types and models of outdoor power equipment for Breed and Co/Ace Hardware.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform minor to complex repairs and troubleshooting onsite and offsite with minimal supervision
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, test/verify proper operation of repairs
• Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
• Maintain vehicle inspection records and follow company and DOT guidelines regarding vehicle usage
• Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Communicate work order progress to customer as needed, maintain clear customer records
• Complete assigned jobs and tasks within established timeframes and within the reasonable expectations of Service Manager
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• Preferred candidates should have at least 2 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing various types of small engine equipment, or equivalent experience in a similar field with a strong technical foundation that is transferrable across various equipment types.
• Candidates with at least 2 years of other technical experience are encouraged, assuming that candidate also has a foundation in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting that will support the business needs.
• Candidates must have a basic understanding of safe work procedures and practices.
• Advanced knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Experience performing hydraulic, transmission, engine, and electrical repairs
• Proficiency with computer software, related hardware, and basic knowledge of machine electronic systems.
• Basic diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to operate a forklift, and obtain required certifications/licenses
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstances
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
• Ability to make precise movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, and/or assemble small objects

Physical Demand & Work Environment

• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include heat, humidity, cold, and inclement weather
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
