Quick Summary: The primary responsibility is to set the strategic direction of the sales team and work with individual account executives and the full team to deliver high performance. The sales leader sets the goals and tone for the team and doesn’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves to close a deal. They play a vital role in our company’s obsession with giving customers (and prospective customers) the unexpected and adding value at every interaction. The sales leader understands the dynamics of the government, economic development, and workforce development markets. They’ve sold SaaS and/or data-oriented solutions in past jobs.
They’re highly collaborative with their counterparts in customer service, professional services, product management, and marketing, and they exhibit a can-do attitude every day. They partner with the business unit EVP and finance to establish sales attainment goals. They have a proven sales and sales leadership track record that is leveraged to educate and coach the team to employ best practices for generating opportunities and closing sales. They collaborate with others to create the sales playbook and to define the goals, vision, sales culture, and processes that lead their team to achieve success.
Major Responsibilities:
- Sales Achievement Plan: Develop and execute outcomes-based strategic sales plan via competitive analysis, customer segmentation and product utilization, market and account penetration plans, as well as thoughtful product positioning. Responsible for understanding annual sales goals and taking necessary action as needed to assure the sales targets are achieved by team members. Coach and develop the team’s ability to leverage a rigorous sales qualification and pipeline management. Implement repeatable processes and best practices that improve the ability and efficiency to sell, upsell or cross sell solution capabilities.
- Sales Performance Management: Mentor and hold accountable the performance of each team member to be able to meet or exceed assigned targets for sales volume, market share and other key financial performance objectives. Ensure that each team member understands the value and is skilled in the full sales cycle from prospecting, qualifying, and nurturing the opportunity to presenting the offer, handling objections, and closing the sale.
- Sales Forecast and Pipeline Management: Demonstrating they always understand prospects and opportunities,must be able to forecast with accuracy, manage, and successfully drive opportunities to closure. Continually focus on sustaining a 3x pipeline.

- Strong planning, financial and analytical skills; proven ability to apply these skills with deft business acumen to complex situations with competing priorities.
- Ability to inspire, coach and adapt to bring out the best in each team member to perform at their absolute best.
- Ability to lead teams in selling multiple products across different platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with particular ability to professionally interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
- Proficient understanding of business technology tools including Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, project management, timekeeping, travel, expense reporting and additional tools as needed.
- Proficient understanding of sales methodologies and tools including Salesforce, HubSpot.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years combination of prior successful sales experience and/or sales leadership in a software or technology company or a combination of educational and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.
