The Boeing Company is currently seeking to hire a Senior Project Engineer (Level 4 or Level 5) who will assist the 737NG/MAX Fleet Chief Office organization in Seal Beach, CA.

This position is for a Project Engineer in the 737NG/MAX Fleet Chief Office who will lead several high-impact Service Related Problems seen in the fleet. This role will work across multiple skills and report out to multiple levels of leadership. This position requires strong and proactive verbal and written communication skills, and strong project management and integration experience. You must have the ability to work multiple projects at once. You will be in charge of all aspects of the project from understanding the root cause, the solution, and ultimately oversee the release of the service information to the fleet.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers

  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements

  • Works with customers and management to obtain approval

  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules

  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics

  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program

  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity

  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Works under minimal direction

Work Authorization:

  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry

  • 3+ years’ experience developing and supporting project plans through the full project lifecycle

  • 3+ years’ experience leading or managing projects that involved cross-functional or cross-business unit teams

  • Experience building relationships and partnerships with all levels of employees, including executives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience managing full lifecycle projects and cross-functional teams.

  • Project Management Certification (ex. PMP)

  • Experience building project plans, schedules and/or budgets.

  • Experience working on commercial aircraft programs, such as the 7 Series Aircraft, or have design or analysis experience on large fixed wing aircraft.

  • Experience working with airline customers and familiar with Customer Support knowledge.

  • Experience with certification process on meeting FAA regulations for production, post production and/or development airplane programs.

  • Experience in working outside of comfort zone: working outside of core engineering discipline, working outside of engineering, taking special assignments (Factory, Field, Supplier Management, etc.)

Typical Education/Experience:

  • (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $122,400 - $165,600

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $150,450 - $203,550
