Senior Operator/ Set Up Job Description

Reports to Vice President of Operations

  • Take partin Apprenticeship to eventually become a Toolmaker
  • Head up the operations team.
  • Cross-train in shipping and in other areas of the company.
  • Project manage and implement LEAN projects.
  • Perform routine inspections, including incoming.

· After incoming inspection, enter purchase order receipts into inventory.

  • Define press, tool, and process problems and root causes and test and implement countermeasures or escalate for setups and operations.
  • Standardize countermeasures for process problems.
  • Maintain sample inventory.
  • Analyze quality data.
  • Sit on Quality and Safety Committees.
  • Implement processes that prevent quality problems and create efficiencies.
  • Report quality issues to Vice President of Operations if necessary.

· Perform routine maintenance and unscheduled repairs to all equipment.

· Take trainings off-site and off hours as necessary to learn to operate new tooling and/or processes.

· Perform office work and data entry as needed.

  • Setup and operate secondary or automatic stamping presses for production to the predetermined level of production and quality (including CNC, individually or in teams).
  • Have ability to read and understand simple blueprints, route sheets, inspection sheets, and work orders.
  • Perform all inspections required to manufacture a quality part using blueprints, route sheets, and inspection sheet.
  • Use such measuring equipment as micrometers, verniers, plug gauges, etc.
  • Complete all first piece quality paperwork so that jobs are ready to be run by setup person or operators.
  • Complete all quality and production paperwork.

· Maintain a clean and safe working area.

· Handle, move, load, and unload materials by hand or using such material handling equipment as pallet jacks, tow motors, and fork lifts. Deliver and retrieve components from storage areas and stage at presses using material handling equipment.

· Empty scrap hoppers.

· Read route sheets to determine what and how many components are needed to complete production demands.

· Maintain inventory records by adding or deleting products as they are added or removed from inventory racks.

· Help track monthly inventory.

· Tumble parts to remove manufacturing oil and burrs from parts and bring them to shipping for packaging.

· Deliver and pick up parts from customers and vendors as needed.

· Inspect material handling equipment to identify problems or defects. Document findings on records and file in proper locations.

· Upkeep the building and grounds. Remove snow in winter months and maintain grass and shrubs in the summer months.

· Stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour day.

  • Qualifications

· Skills

o Speak, read, and write English fluently.

o Basic computer

o Basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing).

o Use such material handling equipment as pallet jack, tow motor, and fork lift.

o Manual dexterity for assembly equipment.

o Works well with others.

o Have a willingness to complete tasks as needed.

o Understand how to program CNC machine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
