Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a
Senior Import Export Logistics Specialist.
This role is HYBRID and based at the Headquarters in Lake Mary, FL.
SUMMARY
Support all logistics for projects with a focus on international shipments and import/export compliance. This position is a resident expert on customs compliance, record keeping and overall guidance for government regulations and Mitsubishi Power Americas (MPW-A) internal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact with all departments, including, but not limited to Logistics, Project, Supply Chain and Engineering Teams to support daily shipments and provide expert guidance to optimize import/export of shipments for overall lowest possible cost related to duty and freight expense. Expert on incoterms and temporary import, export requirements and documentation, knowledge on FTZ requirements and all areas that can benefit with total landed cost for import/export. Knowledge of other country import requirements such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc. and ability to research and learn country regulations to support projects.
- Evaluate current import/export processes, identify risks, develop solutions, implement improvements and integrate related procedures within MPW-A, including factories, locations and subsidiaries.
- Interface with MPW-A divisions, including all factories, Japan, customhouse brokers and freight forwarders to ensure compliance to all government import regulations.
- Create import/export documents (packing list, commercial invoices, bill of ladings, etc.) and track down other required documents from vendors or intra company factories to support shipments to arrange shipments with forwarders and other logistics partners.
- Provide Advance Shipment Notifications to other divisions and project sites based on customer or internal requirements.
- Maintain records and reports as required and provide suggestions to improve or optimize such reports for data analysis, trend setting, etc.
- Primary stakeholder with Customs Broker relationship and Freight Forwarding partners. Gate Keeper for Customs Broker Processes and forms required for both import and export.
- Coordinate import entry post-audit process with MPW-A Transportation and Financial Departments to ensure compliance to proper valuation, classification and other government requirements, including ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are implemented for any defect areas. Record keeping of all post entry samplings for customs compliance and audit purposes. Upkeep and maintenance of the HTSUS database.
- Develop and provide training to departments responsible for the supply chain, purchasing, transportation, and logistics, and other employees in import compliance related activities.
- Track and Trace shipments to keep internal and external teams updated.
- Receive, review and log invoices for accuracy and keeping up with project budgets.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

· Education and/or Experience:Preferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and/or 10+ years related work experience. Custom Broker License a plus but not required. Minimum 10 years of directly related experience. Must have HTS Classification experience, import/export operations experience, international transportation experience across all modes, and be very familiar with INCOTERMS.
· Knowledge: Knowledge of import compliance matters, including Customs and Border Protection and other related government regulations. Knowledge of Customs Regulations/HTSUS/Classification/Valuation/Recordkeeping/TIB CBP28 and CBP29.
· Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese would be a PLUS.
· Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Computer Skills: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and knowledge of ERP systems.
