EBAD seeks an engineer for the position Senior Development Engineer, reporting to the Product Development Engineering Manager. This position is located in Moorpark, CA.
Responsibilities:
The development engineer (DE) is the technical lead on internal and external projects and is responsible for all technical and schedule aspects of the project/product from concept through development, qualification, and production, with a focus on highly complex development projects. Primary duties include:
- Provides technical leadership to multiple project teams and provides approval to gates in the development process
- Development and maintenance of the technical data package, product testing documentation requirements and methods
- Technical compliance and risk assessment/management
- Create 3D conceptual models to meet customer design requirements
- Perform, rationalize, and document design trade studies and hand calculations
- Work with analytical team to rationalize new designs
- Perform tolerance studies to ensure design fidelity
- Interact with customers on design, interface, and functional details
- Interact with suppliers to rapid prototype parts for risk reduction testing
- Requirements generation, allocation, and flow down
- Creation of documentation and leadership thru design verification testing and qualification testing, including dynamic and thermal environments
- Coordination of all other project team technical tasks
- Cost estimating and management for both proposal and program activity
- Additional duties include coordination with other departments to ensure the production viability of new designs, creation of the required documentation, and internal and customer approval for this documentation
- Leverages experience and expertise to mentor, train, and develop individual and overall team capabilities in design, test and production methodologies
Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have a BS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a minimum of 12 years of project, design, or related engineering experience.
- Required experience in leadership of multi-function technical teams, product development, problem solving/root cause analysis and data analysis/critical thinking of highly complex technical development projects.
- Capable of applying GD&T, and understanding how it effects part cost and manufacturing
- Candidates should have the ability to interpret and analyze customer requirements and government/military specifications and apply them to the design
- Strong SolidWorks experience is required
- Knowledge of satellite or launch vehicle systems as well as experience with manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, and product development
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and customers
- Design for Manufacturing methods and techniques
- Experience with government specifications and industry standards related to aerospace components’ and systems’ design, manufacture, and test
- Candidates must meet all requirements under BATFE and ITAR
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite software
Compensation:
Salary Range: $130,000 - $165,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
