THE POSITION

PennDOT Wyoming County Maintenance Organization is currently seeking applicants for a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) to manage all facets of highway maintenance operations within the geographical area of Wyoming County in support of both the short term goals and long term strategic directives set by the County Maintenance Manager. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation), you will apply sound engineering practices and principles to manage the highway maintenance activities in an assigned region of Wayne County Maintenance Organization. You will develop programs, estimates, and plans for various maintenance operations, including surface treatment, surface patching, aggregate stockpiling, snow removal, signage, bridge maintenance and construction.

In this position, you will be responsible for applying sound engineering practices and principles to supervise general and specialized maintenance crews in the performance of highway and bridge maintenance activities and minor construction projects. You will develop preliminary drafts of long range, annual, monthly, and weekly work plans.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Tunkhannock.
  • This position may be eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS).
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience, in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience, in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
