This is a new opportunity to join an expanding chemistry laboratory as a Mass Spectrometry Chemist II. This Chemist will prepare standards and run chemistry lab experiments. Additional support in development and validation of test methods using chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques.

This role is onsite, based out of the Draper, Utah corporate campus site.

Key Role Responsibilities:
  • Assist in test method validations and routine testing using GC-MS, GC-MS/HS, HPLC-QTOF MS, HPLC-DAD, ICP-MS, TOC, FT-IR, etc.
  • Set parameters of complex laboratory instrumentation applying chemistry knowledge and concepts to perform receiving inspection, raw materials, environmental control testing, in-process solutions, and final product release testing
  • Lead smaller process improvement projects (e.g. BEST, Lean) and propose recommendations for manager approval
  • Develop lab specific protocols, reports, and methods in collaboration with inter-departmental teams
  • Investigate and perform more complex corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) testing and propose solutions and recommendations for improvement
  • Perform routine laboratory operations activities including updating documents
  • Interpret data, perform trend analysis, and define qualification strategies for new or modified devices and/or processes
  • Make recommendations and validate new laboratory equipment
  • May train, coach, and guide lower level employees on new procedures, assess work techniques and provide feedback on procedures
  • Other incidental duties assigned by Leadership
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, plus minimum of 2 years relative analytical chemistry or chemistry lab experience required

Master's Degree in Chemistry plus relative thesis, internship or professional rotation experience

Additional Skills and Expectations:
  • Moderate experience with relative laboratory equipment (e.g. gas Chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, total organic carbon, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, atomic absorption)
  • Proficient in Analytical Equipment Systems (e.g. ChemStation, Empower)
  • Demonstrated understanding of chemical principles, theories and concepts
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices supporting a medical device environment
  • Professional communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Thrives in a collaborative team culture, including inter-departmental teams and cross functional groups
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
