The Role:
The Senior Buyer is responsible for the planning, directing, and coordination of the purchasing any of the following: materials, equipment, facilities, supplies, marketing, travel and services across the University or as directed by the VP of Purchasing. They will also be responsible for coordinating with all departments including Finance and Legal, maintaining vendor relationships and negotiating rates/terms for purchases.
What you'll do…
- Lead strategic sourcing for procurement
- Manage vendor contracts, monitor performance, terms, pricing, and purchasing relationships with vendors
- Process requisitions and purchase orders as needed
- Coordinate with other departments including legal and finance for negotiation and implementation of contracts
- Maintain purchasing instructions, policies and procedures, and ensure compliance
- Lead the negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing and ensure best prices and services are implemented
What you'll need…
- 5 years of experience in procurement
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in sourcing and negotiating contracts
- Ability to influence others and communicate effectively
- Ability to collaborate throughout the organization and with vendors
- An ability to drive for results through negotiations

- Higher education experience
- Knowledge of project management
