JOB SUMMARY
Systems Technician
$21.60 - $25.41 Hourly
Under general direction of the Water and Wastewater Superintendent at Public Works, monitors the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) automated computer operation of the Water and Wastewater Systems.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions
- Monitors Utilities System operation and control system with online computer system.
- Directs on-call personnel to troubleshoot system problems as needed.
- Answers after-hour phone calls and dispatches on call personnel.
- Provides direction to contractors that work around facilities.
- Takes hour meter, flow meter, chlorine, and chloramine readings daily.
- Inspects all pump stations, elevated storage tanks, wastewater lift station, control valve sites and generators daily.
- Provides backup assistance, on-call coverage and support to other town divisions and departments.
- Assists office personnel as backup for telephones, customer service, ordering and disbursing office supplies.
- Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Maintenance, repair, upgrading, and installing SCADA, computer systems, database entry and manipulation and all related equipment, hardware and software.- Hydraulics and hydraulic engineering practices and principles.
- Federal, State and Town regulations related to water distribution and wastewater systems.
- Town policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Proficiency in the use of computers and computer-related software.
- Monitor and adjust water pressures and flows to meet changing demands of water supply.
- Effectively communicate verbally and written.
- Enter, retrieve, manipulate, and research database information.
- Resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Experience and Training Guidelines:
Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years computer database and/or troubleshooting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
License or Certification:
- Must possess or can obtain at least a Class II Wastewater and Class C Water Distribution Certification.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical agility test, criminal background check and MVR check.
- Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.

- Work is performed in office and field environments.
- Must monitor alarms and SCADA on a 24-hour basis.
- May be subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemical and fumes, infectious diseases, air and water borne pathogens, snakes, insects, and wildlife common to utility field sites.
