Position Summary
The Seafood Associate is responsible for managing fresh supplies, preparing orders for customers, ensuring a pleasant environment, checking items for freshness, maintaining the premises in hygienic conditions, and contributing to customer satisfaction. They are also responsible to assist, maintain and operate the Seafood Department including the preparation and pack out of fresh and frozen seafood according to company and department standards while providing the best customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Greets all customers and provides them with accurate, friendly and fast efficient service.
- Providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions.
- Manages fresh supplies, prepares orders for customers, ensuring a pleasant environment, checking items for freshness, maintaining the premises in hygienic conditions, and contributing to customer satisfaction.
- Assisting customers in ordering the proper amount of product.
- Operating a scale.
- Maintaining, filling and rotating product and displaying it properly.
- Selecting and wrapping product at customers request.
- Follows approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, scaling, and restocking products to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
- Knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between all various types of seafood and related merchandise including taste, preparation method or use, and price differences between varieties of similar classes of products (i.e. different types of shrimp, scallops, etc.)
- Contributes to controlling freshness and quality of product.
- Handles damaged and spoiled products and assists in controlling the level of damaged goods.
- Checks refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; reports any failure immediately.
- Utilizes and maintains equipment as required by department; reports any equipment problems immediately
- Adheres to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Food Safety operation.
- Dresses according to company policy to include company issued shirts, name badge and hat or hair restraint.
- Complies with quality hand washing standards and uses disposable gloves when handling food.
- Ability to adhere to all local, state and federal health regulations.
- Meets all work schedules and complies with all time and attendance policies.
- Maintains a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
- Maintains department sanitation and quality standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils and equipment. Keeps floor clear of debris and spills.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- · While performing the duties of the job, the associate is regularly required to stand and/or walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- · The associate is frequently required to bend, twist, reach, push and pull.
- · The associate must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
- · The work also includes using knives.
- · The associate must be able to work in varying temperatures.
- · The associate must be able to work with a wide variety of fresh/dried/processed products, including shellfish without negative allergic consequences.
- · This position requires an associate to be able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- · Seafood Associates need to be attentive and precise, able to work in a fast-paced environment where they will be expected to switch tasks frequently to fulfill customer requests.

- · Able to work well with others as a team.
NOTE: ASSOCIATES MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO OPERATE BALERS, HI-LOs, POWER JACKS AND SLICING MACHINES.
