The School Liaison provides education related services (service planning and re-entry coordination) for students and families and serve as school liaison with varied school systems throughout the region. As well as facilitates successful school services and re-integration for each patient enrolled; services to include initial and on-going consultation with the child, family and with local school district personnel.

- Coordinates education services and participates in family-centered patient care for all patients in the preschool through college age range and select adult patients. Distribute education materials for families.
- Facilitates consent of family and communication with the home school district for each patient, including coordination of any paperwork needed by the school district to provide services. Maintains and documents contact with patient, family, and school staff
- Provides consultation and advocacy for families and school personnel in the process of special education referrals and development of individualized education programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans.
- Active participation in rehab team panel.
- Collaborate with the Columbus City Schools teacher assigned to the unit. (pre/post summer)
- Follow NCH established codes of conduct for ethical behavior and HIPPA guidelines in all patient care decisions and activities involving the exchange of patient information. Maintain current understanding of special education laws and processes.
Education:
- Master’s degree in social work or education
Skills:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong working knowledge of child development
- Advocacy skills
- Computer competencies in Microsoft Office and interactive computer technologies
- Effective customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Professionally appropriate analytic and organization skills
