Hitchcock ISD is a rapidly growing school district in Galveston County Texas. We are seeking self motivated individuals that are interested in earning their Texas CDL class B driver's license while working as a school bus monitor.

What does a normal day as a CDL Bus Driver Trainee look like at Hitchcock ISD?

1) Report to our bus barn around 5:45 for coffee and clock in. Work as a school bus monitor on your assigned route. Duties include taking attendance and assisting the driver.

2) Return to bus barn and clock out, usually around 8:00am. CDL Training is off-the-clock and is not paid. CDL classroom training can be done online and in your freetime. After completing the required classroom training, you can take your required CDL written tests at a Texas DPS office. After acquiring your CDL Learner's Permit, you will begin behind the wheel training with an experienced instructor. When ready, you can take the driving test.

3) Report to the bus barn and clock in, around 2:15, and work as a bus monitor on your afternoon route.

This position requires a high school diploma and an interest in working with children. The driver is responsible for transporting students between our school, the local daycare center, and the bus depot. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and has strong organizational skills. Responsibilities: \* Follow the schedule. \* Anticipate and react to passenger needs. \* Handle passengers with special needs. \* Follow all traffic rules and regulations.
