The Nebraska Medicine Ear, Nose & Throat Department is home to a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinic serving populations ranging from children to older adults! Specialty practices within ENT include our Sinus Team, Neurotology Team, Laryngology Team, General ENT, Pediatrics, & Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Team. Our clinic is open Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays! Our hours of operation are 8AM-4:30PM. Our Scheduling Associates provide support for all three of our clinic locations: Lauritzen Outpatient Center on Nebraska Medicine main campus, Village Pointe and our Twin Creek clinic opening this summer in Bellevue.
Our ENT staff consists of fourteen Surgeons, nine Advanced Practice Providers, four Audiologists, a Speech Language Pathologist, and numerous Nurses, Medical Assistants and Patient Care Technicians and our team continues to grow! Our Providers are amazing educators and leaders! Although we continue to expand, we take pride in creating a family-like environment that makes our patients feel safe and well cared for.
Our Scheduling Associates are a valued and important part of our team serving as advocates for access to patient care. Responsibilities of this position include the coordination of new patient and follow up appointments via the EPIC electronic charting system, scheduling of diagnostic imaging, vestibular testing, and other diagnostic testing, the management of internal and external referrals, and properly screening and obtaining required patient information including demographics and insurance details. Our Scheduling Associates work closely in the core at our main campus surrounded by providers and clinical support staff. There is always a resource to reassure our patient visits are maximized and scheduled appropriately.
Complete complex scheduling of multiple appointments for one patient's appointment and/or services on campus, clerical support relating to scheduling and/or coordination of various services and surgical procedures within the organization. Assists patients, staff and physicians, following established scheduling standards and procedures. Scheduling of services may involve coordination of the patient's clinic appointment, procedural and/or diagnostic services to support the health care providers in providing patient care services and unit operational activities, with upholding the expectations of extraordinary care, mission statement and patient satisfaction. Facilitate internal and external referrals, ensuring patient attended appointment and referring provider has received consult notes as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in customer service or medical scheduling related capacity (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
- Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing and organizational skills required.
- Ability to work in a proactive self-directed manner required.
- Ability to function in a manner that promotes efficiency and confidence required.
- Demonstrated flexibility and dedication to team environment required.
- Effective communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to physicians, patients and other internal/external customers required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a healthcare environment with working knowledge of scheduling or registration systems preferred.
- Clinical background in assigned area preferred.
- College coursework in business preferred.
- Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records, Epic preferred.
