FOSSIL RIM WILDLIFE CENTER invites applicants for the position of:
Full Time Safety and Security Manager

The Primary Purpose of the Safety and Security Manager Position :
  • Monitor and control traffic including enforcement of FRWC ‘Road Rules’ and providing guest assistance
  • Maintain visible patrols or posts to establish presence – unpredictable or scheduled as needed
  • Respond to calls or alarms to assess, act and/or notify appropriate staff and/or off-site emergency responders pending best determined action
  • Provide emergency response and assistance – injury/medical, weather related, fire, lost child, animal escape/animal emergency, facilities, etc.
  • In consideration of operational needs - secure entries/exits, gates, buildings, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain perimeter security and monitor all access points and lock updates
  • Provide increased surveillance/security of the Education Complex and Lodgings operations
  • Maintain first aid kits, AEDs, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Job Requirements Include:
  • Valid security license at a level 2
  • Adhere to all FRWC policies and standards
  • Maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Completion of required annual continuing education training (as TBD)
  • Maintain security appearance per professional and FRWC standards
  • Complete and submit required Incident/Property/Accident Reports
  • Complete and file daily surveillance and occurrence reports
  • Compile safety and security items to be considered/addressed with the Safety and Security Director, Advisors, and/or the Safety and Security Committee
  • Identify safety and security items needing action
  • Weekly and monthly reports
Candidate Requirements:
  • Required to have EMS training at the EMT-Basic level or higher. National or Texas Registry.
  • Record keeping and communication skills (including public speaking).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a team player, and able to self-motivate with a history of leadership skills and knowledge, and willing to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Work independently and as part of a diverse group, including with other departments at Fossil Rim.
  • Calm demeanor and ability to de-escalate situations that may arise within the wildlife center.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
