Qualifications and Experience:

• BSEE / BSCS degree and / or at least 5-8 years of relevant LTE, 5G RF Design and Optimization experience in Design / Optimization
• Related Degree and Experience will be taken into consideration in lieu of BSEE / BSCS
• Cellular / Mobile Technology proficiency in 4G / 5G and NR theory and practical experience
• Experience with macro and small cell nominal and final RF designs including development, operations, RF KPIs, and maintenance of RF link budgets for 3GPP technologies.
• Working knowledge of at least two of the common industry propagation / planning tools (like Planet or Atoll) and experience with model calibrations
• Working knowledge of drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis and site database maintenance, using Windcatcher / Actix / Accuver
• Understanding of equipment co-location requirements for multiple operators and experience performing inter-modulation and other external interference analysis
• Perform RF design activities related to building the first standalone 5G broadband network in the US.
• Optimize the end-to-end RF design, propagation modeling and prediction, for deployment of Macro Cell deployment.
• Determine equipment and power configurations.
• Work with eNB / RAN and UE teams on RF solutions including modifications to RF link budgets on a per site level basis to meet operations requirements.
• Perform site candidate evaluation and selection as well as site walks.
• Work with RF Management to establish design criteria, link budget and traffic analysis as needed for network design and update existing performance parameters for ongoing improvements as required.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Provide the 5G subject matter expertise to the customer in the market for design & optimization.
• Own the successful delivery of the ATP, E522 and cluster drives and final market drive in the mentioned markets.
• Manage the ATPs, E522s and cluster drives within the required timelines and provide quality deliverables.
• Continuous engagement with the END CUSTOMER Market RF Engineering team and Regional RF Engineering Head to plan and track the ATP, E522 and cluster optimization and final market drive schedule.
• Coordinate continuously with drive test team and drive test coordinators to ensure each team in the market is delivering the ATP, E522 and Cluster drives & final market drive deliverables in the required timelines with the required quality and at the required run rate.
• Provide feedback to the drive test teams to improve their efficiency and efficacy with data collection and to the back-end RF optimization team to improve analysis and recommendations.
• Review the ATP, E522, Cluster & Market drive reports.
• Ensure drive test teams have correctly driven the sites and routes without errors.
• Lead L3 analysis of failed/dropped/low throughput tests.
• Use XCAP and any other scripts/tools to analyze the logs.
• Work together with drive test coordinators, engineering heads and back-end RF optimization engineers to provide detailed root cause analysis and recommendations for cluster RF optimization.
• If required, work with supplier and/or Nokia back-end engineers to run data through Automatic Cell Planning (ACP) simulation tools to validate and provide RF shaping and coverage optimization recommendations.
• Present the cluster & final market drive reports, root cause analysis and recommendations to the customer.
• Track the implementation of the recommendations by END CUSTOMER
• Compile and update tracker of progress with cluster drives on continuous basis
• Build relationship with customer RF Engineering team.
• Ensure and keep track of customer acceptance of cluster drives.
• Be in the END CUSTOMER office daily and be the face of Nokia to the customer.
• Manage customer expectations.
