Relationship Management Associate Role Description: The Relationship Management Associate role will be externally and internally focused, working with RI clients and partnering with internal business and investment teams to effectively deliver BlackRock to clients.

The individual will be responsible for partnering with the RI Sr. Relationship Managers to execute on team and client strategy by maintaining a high level of client connectivity and focus on business development efforts. The role requires the basic knowledge of markets, investments and the ability to craft sales messages around investment solutions and current economic and market conditions. The candidate would be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of retail annuity products, demonstrate an ability to effectively navigate BlackRock, gain a knowledge of investment solutions suitable for retail insurance clients and broaden their client relationship skill-set.

Reporting Manager: Chad Bartholomew, Retirement Insurance

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As part of our relationship management team, support driving new placements and asset growth across a wide breadth of retail insurance clients and products.
  • Work with Sr. Relationship Managers supporting existing investment strategy placement across client platforms with a particular focus on variable and indexed annuities.
  • Leverage firm resources to provide clients with timely marketing ideas, investment insights, sales ideas.
  • Manage ad hoc queries from clients and follow-through on issues with relevant internal teams.
  • Coordinate client meetings and prepare internal stakeholders – writing briefing memos, preparing materials, setting agenda.
  • Partner with Market Leader team on specific client coverage assisting on product positioning and messaging.
  • Assist in creating management presentations to internal BlackRock colleagues.
  • Support account plan development and execution for current clients to expand relationships, helping to drive commercial opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required, emphasis on Finance, Economics, or Engineering preferred.
  • NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) required or required to obtain within 90 days.
  • Independent thinker with proven ability to tackle complex problems, think creatively and challenge the status quo.
  • Knowledge of investment trends and advisor practices.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Solid MS Office skills, including: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with web-based technology.
  • Clean U-4, if applicable.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $130,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
