Retail Manager – Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel
Position Summary:
The Retail Manager position administers. all functions of the gift shop/arcade to ensure that high quality products and service are delivered to our customers to ensure profitability. This position must be a team-oriented leader with excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and build a team that works together, increases profits and provides superior customer service. Although the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Models, coaches, and re-enforces s employee behaviors in alignment with the Migizi Guest Service standards.
- Administers and manages all aspects of the day to day operation of gift shop/arcade.
- Greets Guests with courteous, sincere and appreciative service, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Observes surroundings for cleanliness, customer satisfaction and employee friendliness.
- Ensures overall profitability of assigned location.
- Submits and records all gift shop/arcade paperwork and ensures the paperwork is turned in to Accounting in a timely manner.
- Resolves employee and customer complaints - reporting to Area Retail Manager of Operations when necessary
- Prepares and presents disciplinary reports when needed.
- Inventories orders and maintains internal controls for inventory and shrinkage control
- Works closely with vendors and sales representatives to compare pricing, product relevancy, promotions and product movement.
- Assists with deliveries to the gift shop/arcade and ensure the store is well stocked.
- Responsible for the buying and merchandising of products to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Develops and runs monthly promotions to meet sales goals.
- Maintains store appearance, displays and rotates merchandise frequently
- Follows all Migizi Policies and Procedures; ensures and enforces all company polices and procedures.
- Maintains employee files, implements training, orientation of new employees. Interviews candidates for open positions and recommends candidates for hire.
- Responsible for submitting payroll for all gift shop employees.
- Ensures all register systems are performing, and running accurately.
- Responsible for Annual Operating Plan, budgets, special events.
- Performs 1st level maintenance as necessary for Arcade and retail equipment. Reports and follows up on equipment issues causing downtime with a sense of urgency.
- Present at manager and other meetings as required.
- Creates and develops employee schedules, forms, signs, and position descriptions.
- Signs off on and codes invoices for payment processing.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Safety Hazards:
Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer operation. Frequent prolonged standing and walking throughout the Waterpark & Hotel and remote storage facilities. Could exert in physical effort in occasional lifting/transporting at least 50 lbs. Push/pull cart or equipment. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas. Reach 24 inches/2 feet. Working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, indoor/outdoor settings, fume/and odor hazards, dust and/or mite hazards, and chemicals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
· 18 years of age.
· High school diploma or G.E.D.
· Two (2) years previous retail business management.
· Previous Arcade experience in mechanical and overall functions.
· Successfully pass TIPS Alcohol Management within the first thirty (30) days of employment as a condition of continued employment.
· Pass a pre-assessment math test with an eighty (80) percent or higher.
· Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License and Tribal Driver’s License.
· Pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Preferred:
· Native American.
